Anyone in the LA area have a dragon to rent for Nov 25-26? I know there aren't a lot in the wild if any. But thought i would reach out and ask.

On top of what Phil said...
Do remember Jacob, that no one is going too just Rent it out, (or at list they shouldn't right now) I know we would not do that with Dragon M8, and already turned down couple of big jobs because of it, and most likely neither would Phil, as this initially will need to go with the accompany of oneself or a trusted Pro, for Tech support, hence more then a rental would be some kind of Hire situation with some strings attached...![]()
At list, as I said, for us with Dragon M8, if and when was to go out when ready, it would not go as a strait rental on its on.
Heh. When I get mine I'll likely go out on it's first few jobs if I'm not the shooter that's for sure.
I don't tend to rent my gear out, but I do tend to go out with my Epic and help inform folks how to get the best image sometimes. Just depends.
Dragon is production ready now. For the lucky few who are getting their cameras this month and next month I'd have no problem letting them play in the street without adult supervision.
This sounds a bit like a dichotomy -one the one hand people have been saying Dragon is virtually impossible to break given it's highlight and low light latitude, but on the other -no way, the camera can't go out unless I'm paid to babysit? Not a bad gig if you can get it I suppose, but I certainly will not stand in the way of those who want to kick the tires or make an offer for rental.
You basically spoke my mind, but with good spelling and and better grammar. Naturally a certificate of insurance will be provided -as all professionals know the procedure. In the event of pre pre-production then we would use our own insurance to cover off the exposure. Is that risky? I don't think so...I'd like to think union members up here are professionals and thus excited about the opportunity rather than want to do anything destructive.
I hope we will get our Epics upgraded very soon since we signed up right away (20th and 21st on the Harcharan list). That said, I trust and respect those DP's who would want to test out Dragon. We are a heavy Alexa town, and to be able to put Dragons and Motion Mounts in their hands means they will have the latest incarnation of Red DSMC's. Enabling them to play is a great opportunity to grow the Red brand....and thus is probably one of the reasons why Red has been slow to release the hounds (aside from a lack of ASIC's available). They know they have a great product and want to ensure it's bullet proof out of the gate.
A camera is a camera is a camera. If someone is a professional, can get me a COI and pays the rate, you can take my camera, if it's available. MX, Dragon or whatever I have. Just tools, not a fragile baby that needs adult supervision.
As a matter of fact, if I was to rent a camera for myself, and the person providing the camera told me I need to hire him to babysit, I would 1st think that they don't know how the business works and have no experience, and 2nd I would be fairly offended, as that attitude implies that I don't know what I'm doing.

But exactly as you said it... There is no way that any one in the right mind will let his Dragon out of site...![]()

I know English isn't your first language Ketch, so I thought I'd point something out for you. The words "no one" and "shouldn't" are the culprits here. Maybe you don't realize that by using those words it sounds like you are speaking from authority about what "everyone should" do. If you want to speak only for yourself, you should have left that sentence out of your post or re-worded it. People who are going to immediately rent out their Dragon took offense to you implying they were not wise to rent out their camera. It sounds as if you are judging them when you write it the way you did. I hope that clears it up as I'm sure its just a matter of misunderstanding. I'm just jealous all you guys are getting DragonsPeace.
Just don't assume everyone thinks and acts like you:
Jeremy,
every one here knows how attached we are to M8, and the fact that I, we, have never rented pout the camera, in fact, ashen it when in it only had exactly 28 hrs of running tie on the MX sensor, M8 is our baby, only used personally by Steve and I.
!
If Dragon was on a 2/3 days delivery for immediate replacement that would be an other story, and I am not just talking abut get paid while it gets replaced as with having the renter forced to get a loss of income insurance till camera is replaced should something happen to it, but because of wonting to also shoot the hell out of it too.
