  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon for Rent

I'm DPing a short in December, and the director wants to rent Dragon because my Epic-MX "isn't good enough Dynamic Range wise." So we watched GWTDT and I told him it was shot on Dragon... He was blown away ;)

"I am no tin the rental business..."

Fair enough, but with only 28 hours being on a camera that is a good few years old then what "business" are you in? I'm not trying to pick at words, but typically when people are in the business of something then it's something they make money from. I'm just curious because you chimed in (7 times) on a thread someone started about Dragon, which you don't currently have, rentals in Los Angeles (not your location), but you're not in the rental business, and given the hour count/ age of your camera... it seems you're not in the shooting projects for money business. I don't get it...

A friend of mine owns a Canon 7D...he doesn't rent it out and he doesn't make any money shooting on it...he's a hobbyist and that's all fine and great, but I'd be a little thrown off balance if he started discussing the rental or freelance world with me from a knowing perspective.

Whelp. I know of at least a couple more Epic Carbon Dragons out there in the wild. Rental-wise I'm pretty sure one is booked through January.

Hi Phil,

What rates are they fetching, please?

Thank you very much

Fury

With only 28 hours of use on a camera that is couple of years old, It does not seem a real issue if you have to wait to get a replacement, I really don't understand this.

Classic of some here that reply away, without reading the entirety of the post, or simply only care to cut away a single phrase, sword of section, which of course it will not give justice to the original poster, but only feed the purpose of the done replying, in this case you guys...

What ever...

I said I and "6" cameras, so of course M8 as a special SUPER LOW number camera was only used so very extremely LITTLE.

And as to entertain the question of what kind of business I am in?

Filmmaking is not my business, never has been and never will be... IT IS MY LIFE PASSION!!

Taking this any further is completely idiotic, so I'm out, have fun.

Ketch,

No disrespect, however I partially quoted from the 8th post, at that point in the thread you had not mentioned you had 6 cameras......& certainly NOT in the post I shortened. I in no way attempted to change what you wrote.

I have a couple of Dragon shoots lined up for December with people that got theirs (Carbon) this week. So the chances of finding one to rent should be increasing with each day. Especially in LA.
