  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Dragon / Epic / Scarlet Camera Beta Build 5.1.23

Amazing how on top of things RED is... Very Happy

Fantastic that we got the manual fan modes back!

And ehm, for us poor documentary filmers in the jungle a way of deleting shots would be much appreciated out in the wild. This mode can always be password protected for big studios so no camera guy deletes shots from Transformer 4 by mistake since they simply wouldn't have the password. :)

It's a Scarlet-X with an M-X sensor, as opposed to a Scarlet-X with a Dragon sensor (coming soon...)

Hehehe almost. Scarlet-X is Scarlet M-X (just like Epic-X) the dragon version is called Scarlet Dragon and doesn't have the X in the name. Sorry for being a nitpick :)

* Added fan control dialog to display warning if auto or manual mode is selected
Cool stuff. Talking about finding solutions without omitting features.

Thanks for the quick update on the beta! Things are moving quick.

So adaptive preview quiet recording is the way to go if we don't want to check the temperature and take care of the fans?

I'm on adapative since beta 5 and never looked back, but adaptive preview quiet record is very welcome. :)
According the Sigma 18-35, has anyone tried to make a lens-profile with that new v5-feature? Maybe that fixes the lockups.

@RED, maybe it would be nice to make your lens profiles separately available in the future? That way we wouldn't have situations like this and in addition wouldn't have to wait for complete new firmwares.

Depends on how long is your take... I think the Hairblower mode could kick in.

If someone could confirm that when using adaptive preview and quiet record set to 25% after 5 min. recording the leafblower could blow again?

Thanks

Pat

Quiet mode does not use the manual fan mode setting. It's designed to keep the camera as quiet as possible and not kick the fans into overdrive.

Ok I understand now. I thought from Mark's post that you could choose the max. value for the quiet mode when recording.

First try adaptive preview quiet record - and lower the max fan speed on record to 25%. It's awesome.

New build is dope! Thx!! I do miss my 4:1 compression @ 4kWS (only get 5:1 now) but I think I'll live

You are getting the same compression ratio as the earlier Beta. You weren't really getting 4:1, it was something between 4:1 and 5:1 (e.g. 4.5:1) which is now shown as 5:1 instead of 4:1 to lessen confusion.

This would be the definitive build for MX if it included 4K, 3K and 2K ANA modes.... I do miss having higher frame rates for Ana... For Deagon, I'm guessing Dragon Color will be the icing for Dragon cameras...

Since the firmware is labeled DSMC firmware instead of the previous name of Epic X firmware, I would like to know if this somehow enables features above and beyond just making movies? I know some have had trouble attributed to the last beta version so it's important to know if this has features that one would find useful for movie-making.

And, if someone could clarify... is DSMC firmware the only thing going forward or will there be upgrades to what has been know in the past as Epic X firmware?
