I find it amusing people asking to see Dragon footage. I'm sure they would if they could. Why show something when it's not the final or close to final product? They would be just opening themselves up to countless posts about the less than stellar results or similar. I'd rather they get it right than rushing something out the door. The color science is going to be tweaked to the bitter end so hang tight.

The Sony 4K display is really great. Add the RED projector to the mix and you have several really good 4K display options.
God love those that mastered in 1080P.

If we only new then what we know now!!!! I cringe to think I have 4 wildlife films in SD, 15 in 720p, 14 in 1080. At least I have 6 so far in 4k. Amazed to see BBC natural history shooting 1080 still with their new Africa series.

Is the Rocket a CPU or a GPU?

Per definition the chip is an ASIC, which you just can't easily replace with a CPU or GPU.
There is not just a re-labeled mainstream-gpu-core on that rocket as some people might think.

I guess its closer to reality to assume there is partially the chipset of a RED One on that PCI-card, to say it the easy way. I'm sure its a bit more complicated than that.

Nope, thats not true. It is in fact an FPGA (field programmable gatter array). This is required so we can change/update its firmware. With an ASIC you have it fixed, forever, can no more update.

Typically you find combinations of ASICs and firmware in complexer systems. However, this board has a very large and expensive FPGA, that is also consuming more power than an ASIC would do. The ASICs developed for the EPICs are there, because otherwise they would need a lot more power. And ASICs become fairly cheap in mass production, compared to FPGAs. However, the RED ROCKET is using FPGAs (power isn't an issue on a desktop system) and its good this way, so one can update it.

Is there a specific reason why you guys chose to do a 6000 x 3000 ( 2:1 ) instead of a making use of the full Horizontal Resolution of 6144 x 3072 ( 2:1 ), only waisitng 88pix of the Vertical resolution? Just curios, I know I'll want to use all the rez I can for prints, as I absolutely love the 2:1 ratio, like my country man Storaro and his Univision... Well, Vision...
