  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Don't get confused...

i don't think you'll need to worry about marketing Red ...it already markets itself.just look.... you are already buying 30 t shirts

I know but if you think about it that's 3 CF cards! I just need then for a few of my female friends to wear at business expos this spring and fall, remember I live it Kansas  unless it aircraft industry related they don't know they need to be shown. With those shirts that'll get them to the booth!

Or you could try traditional marketing and sponsor an ad in the expo-book...

Thanks for looking out GrafxLvr! I've already planned on doing both! I don't have a big Red Tent so it's the next best thing. Plus once they see a Learjet (Not Jim's) and BigDog Motorcycles in 4k I'm sure I'll get inquiries.

I think it should be more like the original red was going before everyone put in all their requests.

4k
Some kind of wire or wireless timecode out to seperate audio devise.
off board storage to CF or small form hard drive. (or cf onboard)
Perfectly balanced with centre of gravity in the centre.
modular
Canon mounts similar to birger with remote.
Off board lcd, monitor or lcd sunglasses.

I would like to see the camera part to be about the size of the Iconix. it would be modular and do 4k with C mount lenses, the battery and compact flash could be in a handle, and there would be a small LCD. these could be attached together to make one unit about the size of a small dv camera or attached by cables for action shots. oh and the small lcd would be compatable with the Red LCD.
I'll have to wait till NAB to see if it is anything like this though.

It's too bad it's been designed (assumption). It would be fun to have some sort of contest, since there are a good number of talented designers around here.

I know RED has there own great team, but it would be fun.

My version would just be an ergonimic lump of clay that you could mold to every situation and strap a lens on. :)

Even if Scarlet did produce great images and was the size of a handycam I still wouldn't buy it, cameras that small are just too difficult to handle.

The company has the most to CONTRIBUTE by aiming at the $2-5k market since the consumer doesn't really give a crap about image quality when it comes down to it, and they already trust the names like Sony, JVC, etc.
Scarlet pretty much has got to be some sort of HVX200 killer, right?

You can take the Jim out of Oakley, but you can't take the Oakley out of Jim. I got a feeling this Scarlet is gonna find herself strapped to every Skateboard, Wakeboard, Snowboard, Surfboard, Running Board, Parole Board and Skydiving helmet in California. Can't wait to see the "little" Lady.

This will be the "professional pocket cam" they speak of that would be nice for the red skydivers (helmet cam) and many, many other types of specialty work.

Heheh, trust me, I thought of that long before Scarlet was ever announced. My skydiving helmet has had a RED sticker on it forever...
