DJI RONIN Group Buy

I would love to see a way to use V-mount batteries, too. I don't own any Redvolts and would rather not be forced to purchase any.

Would love it if there was power pass-through so I could power the Ronin and my Epic from one v-lock battery in a belt clip. Would save a ton of weight.

Thats a great idea Tony.. What i like about the side handle is the lack of cables but I would prefer not having to worry about another type of battery on set.

Does anyone think that the ronin can handle a small v mount bettery instead of a redvolt inside the side handle? That means no side handle. Just the brain, lens, and the lightest v mount battery? I think it shouldnt be much heavier than the sidehandle no?

It was outfitted with a V-mount battery on Cinegear — https://vimeo.com/97606504 Though it was not placed behind the back of a camera

We still don't know the weight of the Ronin?

Same here, ordered through AMP. Just wish I knew where I was on the list. If I made the initial 50 or not. Emailed Patrick but never got a reply

AMP Return Policy

AMP Return Policy

I am still wondering if anyone has experience with AMP's return policy and their customer support? Because it looks like there are many DJI customers out there that are quite unhappy with DJI's customer service.
I'm hesitating right now because so far no one's had a chance to really test the Ronin in the field. And I guess I just don't want to spend 4 grand on a product that doesn't really work and then I'm stuck with it because noone can either help me solving problems or will refund me in case I want to return it.

I'm personally just waiting for them to release the universal mount before I drop my money. It does look fantastic now they added power breakout under the sled of the camera though. Kudos for listening to us DJI.

Never Mind...

Never Mind...

... So I just got off the phone AMP and they told me the group buy was already over because it was only valid for the first batch of 50 units.
Also (the sales person I spoke to was not sure about this) AMP might give you 30 days to send the unit back to them. After the first 30 days you'll have to deal with DJI yourself...

I'm very unhappy with the outcome of this group buy...

Wow, and where exactly was this info posted? The Group Buy deal should apply to everyone, who entered their data on a special page Willis provided, isn't that the case? Willis?

50..? Something's off...the group buy was list in the hundreds.
And last information was better to pay full price at once...but no definte date was given
though seemed like they wanted it all wrapped up by the end of the month.

Still we need final specs. on it..like how much it weighs...???
Does anybody know this yet...???

I emailed Patrick and asked about the return and/or refund policy. He got back to me very promptly and this is what he told me:

"There are no refunds once its been opened or used. You can return unopened boxes within 10 days. The return will incur a %15 restocking fee."

Since there is no hard information about the product's final specs and performance, I've decided to go a different direction.

It's unfortunate Willis is in Alaska right now. "The sales person wasn't sure", so let's not all get worked up here.
Perhaps Patrick can chime in and provide some clarity.

I know how frustrating it is not to see an independent review of the unit - which is why it gives me a great pleasure to let you guys know that I have a unit on the way to me specifically for this purpose - I expect it to arrive early next week...

I am cooperating with a local rental house in order to put the Ronin through its limits. We intend to try all sorts of configurations - from the lightest, most compact Scarlet with affordable still lenses and accessories - all the way up to fully kitted CF Dragon Epic with proper cine glass, matte-box, filters, FIZ and wireless HD.
We are also planing to test the Ronin on variety of platforms - from handheld through steadicam, crane, dolly, car all the way up to a full-size helicopter (weather permitting)...

I will setup a new dedicated thread for the review / testing - if you guys have any specific requests and/or questions you want me to test / answer - please post it there. I will do my best to cover them all...:

Hi Guys,

Regarding calling my office, I am not sure who you spoke to. Perhaps it was a misunderstanding or one of my guys didn't clearly explain something. I do apologize if something was not communicated correctly by one of my employees, Either way, I am here for you bud, and I have all the right info :) I recommend that anyone with questions simply email me directly at patrick@aerialmediapros.com, Ill be happy to get back to you.

Lets clear up a few things right now. The group buy is not limited to 50. That may have been confused with the availability and the first shipment being a quantity of 50. It is open to everyone that was INTERESTED. Yes, that INTERESTED list was in the hundreds, but when it came time to actually commit to purchase, that list shrunk to a little over 100. I received a list of just over 100 people that filled out the DJI contact info and choose AMP as their dealer. I was told that aprox 95% of the people that registered choose AMP. As you can see the list of hundreds of people that responded in the thread with "INTERESTED", quickly shrunk to a much smaller list of just over 100 people. The first batch of 50 is already spoken for, and we are just now beginning to work on the second batch of 50. I am being told that the second batch of Ronin's should ship 1-3 weeks after the initial 50. So even if you didn't get on the first batch, you should be to far behind.

I have personally emailed everyone from the list that I received from DJI to begin collecting the Payments. We had a very quick and positive response. Seems that there are really a lot of you guys very happy with the opportunity to Pre-pay and reserve their unit. I notice I get a lot of positive emails with people expressing their appreciation and support, but I don't see much of that on the forums. I assume those that are happy do not see the need to go and post it all over the forums. I guess it goes to that old saying of "if you like something you tell a couple people, but if you dont like something you tell the world". Heheheh, that seems so true at times. I do see that a few are unhappy with how the group buy has progressed. I do agree that it could have gone differently and smoother. Good news is that we are here now and things seem to be going pretty well. I can tell you that the majority of people have been very happy and more than excited to have gotten their Ronin reserved and paid in full.

Lets talk about DELIVERY DATES. Willis mentioned an end of June release. Guys, as much as I would love to say that is going to work, I have to say I highly doubt it. DJI is constantly pushing the envelope and is always coming out and releasing some new bad A*& products. Being their largest Dealer for the Professional line of products, I have gotten a good feel for how the new product release's go. We have had multiple releases of products that we have done Pre-Order sales on. Pre-Orders were really not my plan or idea. Customers kept urging and pushing me, asking me to please allow them to pay for it now and upfront so that they can secure and be the first with the product. All of my new product pre order sales have gone really good. The key is to be patient because the dates usually get pushed back from the original plan. Please understand, At anytime, if your tired of waiting, simply send me an email to cancel, and Ill refund your payment immediately, and give your spot to the next one in line.

The end of the month is just a little over a week away. I know there are some final touches and refinements being done before the final product releases. I can pretty much assume they will not ship in 10 days. I could be wrong though. Personally, I would rather wait an extra 2-6 weeks and receive a product that has been fine tuned and perfected before shipping them to the consumers. This is why the release dates from DJI generally get pushed back a little, because they are doing some finishing touches to make it absolutely right.

Personally guys, I am now thinking that the Ronins will Ship Mid July. Plan on Mid to late July and with that we should be good to go. PLEASE Do not go out and book gigs only because your planning on doing it with the Ronin. I never really understood how people can book jobs that require them to use equipment they do not even have yet. LOL, thats a completely different thread that could go on for a few pages hehehe. Seriously though, Pre-Orders like this go real good as long as your patient and do not need this for some URGENT shoot or something. If you have Pre-Ordered this from me with a Shoot Date in mind, Please understand it may not ship in time for your shoot. If your not comfortable with that, Please email me and let me know and I will refund your Pre-Order immediately. There is no need to pre-order the Ronin only to Stress about it daily.

I mention a Mid to Late July Ship date. I prefer under promise and over deliver. If it ships end of June, your gonna love me. If it ships end of July, at least you wont crucify me since I am being up front with it now. As with all major/new product releases, they often take a little longer than originally planned. Please be patient, and email me directly if you have any concerns. I will post up here if I hear any new news on ship dates.

Everyone should have received the email and Coupon Code to use on checkout at our website in order to get into the group by. It is not limited to a certain amount of people that can participate. If you posted interested, and filled out the DJI form asking for AMP to be your dealer but have not gotten an email from me yet. Then simply email me directly and I will give you the code and link to order at. I will keep the Code active on our website until last day of this month. This will give those that are just getting their emails with the coupon codes a little more time. Again, contact me if you need the code. After that, you will have to pay full price, and there will be no bonus items. I have A LOT of people wanting to buy 3-10 of these at a time. I have not allowed that, and have only allowed 1 per customer. Once I end the Coupon code on the last day of this month, I will then begin to allow anyone and everyone to Pre-Order, which is going to really increase the wait list. So, if your interested, just make sure to order before the end of the month to be in front of the masses that will soon begin ordering.

I hope this cleared up some things. For all those that have laid silent but have personally expressed your gratitude and suport though PM, and email. Thank you very much, I do appreciate your support and your business very much. I will do my absolute best to take care of this and to get everyone's orders shipped as soon as possible.

If anyone has some concerns or have questions for me, email me direct at patrick@aerialmediapros.com

Thanks again for your Positive Support, you have all been awesome.

Have a god night,

Patrick
