DJI RONIN Group Buy

That's a great package! But I thought the thumb control for single operator came standard with the pkg too? I remember heAring this in the nab videos

@AdamJohnson,
The thunb controls unfortunately won't come with the package. The good thing is that once it's released, it's going to be very affordable. It's on high priority mode.

Hi Willis ...are those items part of any Ronin order or specials for the RUGBY?

These will be in the standard kit. The reduser group buy is 10% off and the ability for Aerial Media Pros to provide a deal. Otherwise, DJI doesn't normally offer any discounts.

Daniel, You wouldn't have to register and choose all the dealers to find out their deal. All the other dealers are the same and they can ONLY offer the flat 10% discount off MSRP of $4499. We will be the only ones to offer an additional savings, one of which is a Free battery and Free shipping in the USA.

Hey Patrick,

This might be a rather obvious answer but I just wanted to make sure. So would that be 2 batteries total? 1 we purchase in the kit and an extra that we get from purchasing through you? Thanks for everything Patrick. Also, where in Orange County/LA are you guys located? Would it be possible for us to pick it up in person? In addition, is there any info, plans on creating any sort of mount for steadicam arms? And I also want to send a BIG THANKS to Zeb for putting this together. Zeb has been a HUGE advocate for this and really did a great job of getting the RED community excited for this product. Hats off to you my friend and thank you for really stepping up.

I would say so.
Zeb has spearheaded amongst the best non-RED Group Buy ever on this board. At minimum he deserves a Ronin for free.

Let's get real here guys.

Hi Willis

How much will the shipping and import duty tax be to the EU/Asia?

Thanks!

FYI: I think there are some basic Group Buy rules on RED User that require posting full disclosure of the deal: pricing, kit contents, shipping etc. Not sure the non-transparent, specific retailer package price pass the that smell test. Not my forum but that's what I have seen in the past as a standard practice

Hey guys,
Apologies for the delay on what the package contents were. CineGear was, well... pretty busy. Here is the list of contents

1x Ronin Gimbal
1x Ronin Intelligent Battery
1x Ronin Battery Charger
1x Dual mini 15mm accessory rods
1x Lens support base
1x Remote Operator Controller 2.4ghz
1x Camera Dovetail Plate
1x Collapsable tuning / balancing stand (able to take top part off to mount on a baby pin)
2x Top Bar Accessory Mounts
2x 1/4" Camera Screws
2x 3/8" Camera Screws
1x Allen Wrench Set
1x Accessories Pouch
1x Custom Molded Pelican-Style Carrying Case with hard foam
1x Power Breakout Box
any photos of sample setup with pelican case?

So if buy through AMP, where is my CS coming from? If its taking this amount of public outcry to get this GB to function properly, what happens when we start needing CS in trickles? I'm beginning to understand those poor folks who believe DJI's CS is non-existent

Hang on. Did I get this right? It's the same retail package, with all the same accessories, but 10% cheaper?

In other words, a $1.5M Group Buy got no extra goodies and a discount some US retailers can give in any case? Well, color me disappointed - especially as the 10% discount is eaten by shipping costs and taxes for us European customers.

Honestly, I would have expected either extra aks on top of the discount or a larger discount, something in the twenties perhaps. I mean, come on, it's 300 units after all.

Regardless, I did enter my details and decided to wait to hear from a European distributor, hoping the deal changes for the better between now and the time deposit is due.

Can I still join the GB?
and how?

I'm a little baffled by the "big announcement" - it doesn't seem like much more than a how-to on sending them money for a mystery product. There are several major pieces of info that I haven't seen addressed:

1. Release date
2. Warranty info
3. Customer Service/Repair implementation
4. Demonstration of a final working product
5. Refund policy
6. Accessory availability

I know everyone is excited about this (as am I), and many are ready to throw money at this without even knowing these things. But, the lack of info, organization, and ability of company representatives to give clear, responsive answers is a bit troubling? $4500 or so is still a substantial investment and should come with these basics. Willis - can you address these things? I have given up on trying to get clear communication direct from DJI "Sales Reps" via the company website.

Didnt know about this...think I'll wait :D

Ditto Greg Fayesh's comments above. All we are getting is the excitement (sizzle) of this mystery product. What I need at this point is to see and taste the steak (actual real-world product: real reviews of it in use, real images of the package, and how it can be used, customized for specific purposes). This shouldn't (still) be a mystery product. It was shown at NAB, but since that time, I have been unable to find any review, info, etc on it - other than the original two videos. By now, when I am thinking of laying down a sizeable investment, I have nothing to base it on. (Most of us probably couldn't attend CineGear). And for our leap-of-faith jump, we are being allowed a 10% discount? It might be time to slow down the excitement ... I wish it felt otherwise, but it does not.

I am glad that there are clearer heads than mine around here, I jumped right in because I saw and handled the Ronin at NAB and need something soon, but, after a nights sleep, I see the issues that everybody is getting at. A thing that has me bothered is the thumb controller coming later and at extra cost. This was definitely promised as being included when at NAB, and a big selling point. Also for the discount- it certainly doesn't seem much as I doubt many dealers of Ronin are going to sell over a million $ + and will be getting a much larger break. And, it seems that Dji is getting a huge group of what in effect are beta testers, skilled beta testers at that.

What's the initial quantity allotted to AMP? I'm wondering if there's enough in the first batch to get to #123. Otherwise, whats the estimated wait time if orders don't make the first batch?

Also is the shipping order based on the list of "interested" buyers? or the order of payment received?

I browsed AMP website over a month ago and they were taking full payment of $5000 at a time when release date and specs were still not fully determined. Now site reflects actual retail price. Question is how many have already paid for this item in full and where do RU buyers fit in after deposit is placed. Lots of questions still to get answered including delivery timeframe. How many of the first 50 units go to us versus those who were willing to pay up front in full?

We'd love to avoid shortcomings of other gimbal threads on this board. A refundable deposit is a practical and logical way to approach this GB with final payment due upon delivery. Makes perfect sense. In fact Willis said this would be terms of purchase. This product is still basically in beta mode until it is available in legitimate quantities on open market. Nothing wrong with beta, facts are facts.

Of course there are likely some here willing to pay everything up front and wait for their unit. As buyers other bad examples on RU prove we should have a degree of leverage in case of unforeseen delays or issues arise. Basically Zeb should have a unit for several weeks testing before anything is delivered. Like how about ASAP? That would give us some satisfaction of what we are purchasing.

Don't get me wrong as many of us are very excited for what Ronin will do to our work but again this must get done the right way. Thank you fellow Red Users for posing questions now before we commit to a significant capital purchase.

Just my two cents.

I'm interested

I'm interested

I'm interested.
But I get all your points as well.

I'll just wait until the 10th to see if DJI will come up with something else, I guess...
