  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DJI RONIN Group Buy

I only was able to watch the first 20 mins or so but noticed that your very first question out of the gate was making sure RU people were represented and being taken care of. RU Advocate level = HIGH. :thumbup1:

I also tuned in at one point where it sounds like the set up and adjustment time needed when switching lenses is going to be very quick. Around 5 mins is I think what I heard. Sounds great.
 
While Zeb, (humm, stil filling weird about this name change) and I had sure had a share of negativity going on... For what ever reason He fills trashing in some time on my threads...

But as a good warrior told me 30 years ago... No matter what, always recognize your enemy's qualities as well as your friend's...


So, yeah, either one Zeb is, or wishes to be, I know how hard can be to do Group Buys as I have xeon several in the years... And He has sure done an incredible Job here... So... Bravo!!
 
Zeb, what's the story with the group buy? I asked to be listed early in. Never got a confirmation. What is the timeline on this? I start a feature in NYC in three weeks. Is it realistic they might ship by then? For some reason, I was under the impression RU group buy would be first among buyers. Today, I just found out a DP I know in NY received one. Can you direct me to the post that outlines when this buy executes.

I love you Ketch! Just don't always agree on the finer points. You are a great asset to RED and RED User. Your positive energy and enthusiasm is a gift to any team you join. Don't ever change Mate!!

I do not believe your DP friend received a Ronin. If you posted "Interested" on this thread then you have done all you need to do for now. DJI has committed to me privately and now publicly in the Google Hangout that RED Users will be first to receive the Ronin. Patience my friend

Thank you for the kind words. I am trying to represent the best interests of my fellow RED Users which naturally sometimes puts me at odds with DJI and their sales channel. I do what I can and hope for a good result
 
I am confident that Zeb will put an awesome deal together for us. He always answer my stupid private messages and trying to get a big company like DJI to commit cannot be easy.

What size of LCD cable will be suitable? Got to buy one anyway and want it to fit on it as well.

Hi Petra,

That dovetails into one of the questions that I wanted to ask, but we ran out of time on the panel. I would like to know if DJI is going to offer/partner with someone to offer HIGH quality cables, for video, Audio, Time Code, etc. and an easy method/connectors, for the end user to wire the rig, inside the tubes, shall we say, as cable requirements change. I know Paul and, certainly the ZwbMeister monitor this thread, so...

I have the 9 as well as the 5" Red monitor and have only used the 5" on our Movi. I can't imagine trying to use the 9 on it.

Hey Zeb (or Dmitri)

I don't want the DJI group buy to suffer from the same lack of follow-through as the Cinemizer GB. I'm jumping ship from the Ronin GB to the Helix. Both will be amazing products but I think the Helix design will ultimately be a better fit for my purposes. Strike my name from the "interested" list -
 
No worries Meryem. The Helix has turned into an amazing product over the last couple weeks. Hienie crowd sourced a design on RU in real-time . . . freakin awesome!

Rumor on the streets has it that DJI is working directly with RED and AMP to put a GB kit together. Hopefully it will include most of the Wish List requests in my post #274. I haven't received any official word - will pass along what I get from them when the details become available.

Exciting times for gimbal buyers!

we ordered the FGGFHG1B16-24in right angle to straight, $405. Not listed in their catalog so best to call or email and explain what you're looking for. I'll post pictures when we get it...
