  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Did somebody try the red drive on Epic yet?

Any chance of a quick business lesson... how do you make money from this offer?!?!?

It's called 'taking care of your customers' :-)

Treat 'em right, they'll make plenty money down the road. People like being treated right.

Mike

We are not going to be making a drive module for the DSMC program. When we came up with that module, we had no sight of the SSD cards and how advantageous they would be. SSD media outweighs the benefits in so many ways, forcing customers to use spinning Drives on EPIC at a reduced resolution and reduced quality settings just didn't make enough sense to continue the legacy.

Just because we like to make things right... we will be offering a trade in program for your RED DRIVES after NAB. We will give you 50% of the purchase price you paid for your RED DRIVE against the purchase of a 256GB SSD card. Hopefully this will help bring you guys forward into the SSD program.

Drive cable too? Just askin'. Either way... THANKS!!!

This is a very generous offer.

I just had my original 320 drive serviced by RED though, the drives were replaced converting it to a 640.
I think Ill sell the drive as I think these should be a pretty hot commodity to people keeping or purchasing RED ONEs.

In 25+ years in this business I've never heard of such a thing, you guys at Red are simply nuts. 50% trade in on old media...are you crazy? I think the late nights have gotten to you...get some sleep, wake-up in the morning and come to your senses.

A 10% discount is more than fair. :)

This is a great offer and good way to get the drives out of circulation and everyone transitioning to SSD's. We'll be doing this pronto.
Any idea when the Side SSD modules and SSD's will be shipping en masse?

If you have an order for the side SSD in already, the backorders should be 90% sent out over the next 48 hours.

Hey Jarred, correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it mentioned at one point that there would be a CF adapter for the SSD module that would let us use our CF cards with it? Is that still the case and if so, might we be seeing those in the near future? Thanks

Hi Jarred,

Is this offer just for the 256 SSD?
Or can the same deal be for the 128 SSD?
I have already ordered one 128 for my MX, and having one more would be great. But for the amount I shoot, having one 128 and one 256 is too much.

global deal...

global deal...

It's nice to see things do change. I just hope we shall be presented with the global deal (what works with what, especially old red one accessories, and what extra-accessories, mounts, etc. are required to configure an operational setup) before we are asked to turn our red one back in ...

Good on y'a! Another nice commercial offer Mr Land.
Just wish my pockets were deeper enough.
Best.

Oh wow Jarred! Sounds too good to be true! You are attempting the impossible; to make even the storage media not-obsolete!
I won't hold you to that trade-in idea but you know a move like that will be greatly appreciated!

I like the fact that you are kidding about kidding... :)
Like I said, wouldn't hold you to it, you've already gone above and beyond for us all.
Seeing as one of my red drives is now visiting RED Europe for a spa treatment (been on the fritz lately) I was thinking that sooner rather than later I should upgrade to the side SSD module and get a couple 128GB drives to start with, and maybe by late summer get a couple 256GB drives always planning to pay full price.
