So amped to be running DaVinic on my humble windows i7 at home, Just wondering if someone can conform no DNxHD support when wrapped in an MOV ?? Does any one know if I can create MXF intermediates without AVID?

Luigi,
Davinci Lite doesn't read cineform files (even if you have the Cineform license). I don't know if the full version does.

No, I have the full, 3D Cineform License, and they have never been able to make it work without a watermark.

I imported and exported in 10/16-bit CineForm codec, with studio premium and professional version , I can do to avi or mov to 5k, without problem.
Without the installation of CineForm could not even read and write.
Premiere also works very well with CineForm to 10 / 16-bit to 5k and export.
I even found some small problems on the levels of blacks, exporting rise.
I'm happy with this codec.

The problem that I have encountered is not during ingesting, grading, or other manipulation. Only at exporting, using Cineform as a codec, gives a beautiful output picture, but with a watermark.

Luis thanks for info,
I Try in this days, You have Used some special correction ?

I love the Cineform codec. Very flexible, and extremely accurate throughout the process. Specially since it can be manipulated afterwards outside the grading system for minor changes. The problem is that since I did the test early last year, and we were not able to get a final product encoded without the watermark, I am basically waiting for BMD and Cineform to solve any issue that is creating this problem, but I have not received any feedback about any resolution attempt.

Believe me, if they fix it, I will use it. No question about it.

I have been using Cineform for years on the PC platform and love it also. Resolve Lite does not work on my setup. The official Literature on Black Magic's site says it is supported on both MAC and Linux, but not windows.

Luigi, I assume you are using a MAC? If it is a PC, I would happly buy the full version of Resolve to get Cineform functionality...

I use cineform everyday with my DaVinci, but I am on mac.

I always convert convert 5d footage to cineform for on-lining and finishing. Great codec.

About cineform on mac, it works on my system (I have the davinci full version not lite), the problem I have is when I import the files into After Effects there's a color and gamma shift. Prores 4444 from davinci to AE looks the same, when I import a cineform files from davinci the files are washed out, I tried also to change the raw metadata of cineform with firstlight but the files don't look "right".

Ciao Steven,
They are now on windows 7 with Davinci full version 8.2 beta b2.
I must say that I'm trying for a few days and I really like as a codec, I'm falling in love.
We put a little video, sorry if I hurt, but a short time.
I'm important, exporter and CineForm files from DaVinci and so far no problem, From 5k red to cineform all ok, even if you apply firstlight first, and then open Davinci's all ok, great;)
Adobe Premiere also works great.
There are still troubles on the gamma, but much less than ProRes.
If you have questions or some tests for me to do I would be happy.
I think eventually they will buy for $ 199;)

Luigi

Thanks for the detailed post. I updated my Davinci from 1b t 2b and it works a little bit. It still will not load existing Cineform files, but the files I produce with Davinci into Cineform will load back into Davinci.

Progress!

Steve

ciao Steve,
good to know, I unfortunately do not have old files CineForm, but I think that old people can not see from what you say.
I did the test only with the new Cineform and I like it very well indeed.
Even with redcine-x pro, exports work well, sometimes, a few crashes, I do not know if blame Redcine x-pro, or encoding.
I'd like to know some colorist, what do you think of the new CineForm Neo., Advantages and benefits. I'm curious.

thanks
Luigi
