DaVinci Resolve v9 Released

Whit SOnnet express pro thunderbolt and redrocket with macbook pro 17" i7 2011, the system recognize but not have acceleration....
strange....

The response from Black Magic is that it's recognized as 4x. They said if it wasn't you wouldn't see anything there.

Has anyone experienced any issues with v9 Lite Beta? I was talking to someone today who installed it on an Early 2009 Mac Pro running OS X 10.7.4 and he reported that the system would freeze, force-shutdown and then restart every time he launched Resolve.

No major crashes here on 2.7 / 16GB Retina MPB.

Is the integrated GPU not used because of a limitation of the LITE version or is it just no used at all?
It would be great if the Retina MBP was using integrated for UI and Discreet for computation only. Although the performances are pretty amazing for a laptop it's borderline choking at 1/4 res with the Ultrastudio feeding a REF monitor + 27" Display for UI even on simple grades.

The audio in Resolve is played through the decklink card only. May be that is the reason audio is not working for you? A while ago I had asked for it to be selectable between decklink and built in audio, not sure if it had been implemented.

Hi Jake,

If you don't have a Decklink card on your system, the system audio is used. Of course, you can't choose Decklink for video, and system audio for audio, else it is difficult to get accurate sync.

Hi Brian,

We have multiple 2009 Mac Pros, and we've not seen any issues. Please make sure the CUDA is up-to-date, Mac is running in 64-bit mode, and you have sufficient memory. For OSX 10.7.4, you might need to install the latest NVIDIA OSX driver as well if you are using the PC cards.

Regards,
Rohit

I personally haven't had any issues with v9 Lite Beta. I installed it on an Early 2009 Mac Pro also, running OS X 10.8.1 and it's been working perfectly. (Awesome update to Resolve, by the way.) I've been reading about other users trying the Beta and no issues seem to have been reported yet, so it's odd that the friend of mine I was referring to in my last post is having such drastic issues. (Anything that forcefully shuts down the system is what I call "drastic.") :-)

I'm curious to see if an OS upgrade to Mountain Lion will resolve his issue, so that's what I'll recommend he do.

Thank you for the clarification Rohit. I still would like to see the audio selection of the system audio with decklink card present.

I have these cards in my Win7/64 system:

Quadro 4000 (GUI)
2x GTX 580's (Render)
Red Rocket

Resolve 8 would use the Quadro as GUI and show 2 GPU's for render. After installing v9 Resolve is using a GTX 580 for GUI, Quadro 4000 for render and not using the other at all (on the 'about' screen it shows 1-GPU).

When going into the System Overview the cards are listed as:
Video Card 1: Geforce GTX 580 - GUI Only
Video Card 2: Quadro 4000
Video Card 3: Geforce GTX 580

My monitors are only connected to the Quadro card, nothing is connected to the GTX's. I know v9 is just out but any idea how to get the video cards configured the way they were in V8?

I got that too on my new MBPr but I wonder if it its just saying its not 8x.

Bon is strange, whit redcine--x i have realtime in 4k whit SOnnet express...
in Davinci Resolve 9 i have only 10 fps whit and same without Redrocket.... i think is not supported....

crashes whenever i try to import premiere generated xml. it used to import with some success in the past with no crash. from what blackmagic has been saying, i was expecting better integration. i'm pretty bummed.

The only way I have every had any luck with Premier and Resolve 8 was to make the edit down to a single video track, export xml, open in FCP, select the correct timeline (Pr exports my entire project as an XML which drives me nuts!) export from FCP and then import into Resolve...

thanks for the info. i'd give that a try, but i don't have fcp. hopefully blackmagic will make this easier.
