  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

DaVinci Resolve Keyboard - Cheapest control surface

Would any other trackpad work, have you have tried any other? What is the model name of your keyboard?
My maximum monitor resolution is 1920 X 1080. Will your program support this? Thanks.

Every trackpad works, If you can use it as a mouse, you can use it with my script.
My Keyboard is a 15$ Mediacom keyboard, the exact model is CX7710.

I've also made a working setup for Luis Otero with his Logitech Keyboard.

Yes, now every resolution from 1680x1050 to 2560x1600 is supported.

That's pretty sweet. Could your script be used with an x keys panel? I would assume so since the x keys cab be mapped to any keyboard command.

I would like to use an x keys panel with my euphonics control surface to have a lot of the functionality of the resolve panel.

Sure! I've not a xKeys panel so I can't configure it for you, but I can help to replace the "keyboard" blocks to yours.

EDIT: 1.0 version is out! Fully working now!
Now i'm making better stickers and then the PDF guide ;)

The x keys Mac osx software can be downloaded and configured without owning the device. If you could do a quick test and see if I can retain main keyboard functions and map the x keys buttons to your script, I'll be glad to send my money your way.

This is the x keys I want to use:

and here is the software:

Edit: I just saw on your site that you already used controllermate, so setting this up should be a breeze.

Edit 2: since I have the euphonics surface, I'm more interested in the navigation and node mapping/creation buttons than most of the knob and track wheel replacements. The things I want to do with x keys are mostly hard buttons on the davinvi panel since the euphonics already does a pretty good job with the knobs for adjustments and selection and play controls.

Send me an email in a way that I con send you back a test script and discover if it works.

If you know how to go to next node/previous node with the keyboard I can add it to the script. Unfortunely the manual doesn't help.

Could I buy lots of trackballs, and emulate having more pots on my Wave, or can I only control one parameter at a time? Van I use a Wave at the same time as this? Can I use my "nomal" keyboard at the same time?

I think this multi-pot thing would be great.

No, you can't control more than one parameter at the same time, but you could use the Wave and your normal keyboard while using this custom keyboard.

Windows version is in the roadmap, but will have some limitation... However I advise the Mac version

Hi Paolo, we have an public beta Resolve for Window 7 Pro on our web site. Online now for nearly a month.
Peter

Thanks for your post Peter,
i was referring to the pc version of the software made by Rosario.
I already started playing with Resolve lite for Windows.
Cheers,

:-( but thanks.
Keep us up to date.

Isn't my fault, there isn't an application like Controllemate on Windows, so I've to use what Windows platform could offer, and it's very limited...

I can say what will be the features:
- You can use every keyboard that you want and every mouse that you want, without any limitations.
- You can't map the 100% of the keys, but some keys aren't mappable. (Less functions)
- Can't dedicate a second keyboard exclusively to Resolve: there will be a software switch (like pressing two keys) to switch from normal keyboard to Resolve Keyboard. You can use a second keyboard with the stickers, but if you are in "normal mode" it will ignore the Resolve inputs and will print the original key's behavior, and if you are in "Resolve mode" also the first keyboard will respond to Resolve Keyboard.
That's because in Windows I can map the actions: "Press A, press S, press D"; On Mac i can map the actions like: "Press Key#39 on Controller #1".
- I'll have to port manually the entire script on Windows, and every edit should be done on both platform manually, so updates will be asynchronous.
- You can't customize the layout how you do on Mac.

But maybe I'll start developing it when possible, because there are other applications that could enjoy the benefits from my script.

I think x keys could work very well - what are your final thoughts on this? X keys is just a keyboard, after all, but it looks a bit more pro. Also, did you know that you can get custom keyboards manufactured for you at quite low cost?
