We have just posted DaVinci Resolve 8.2 beta 4 for Mac, Windows and Linux and also the Lite versions for Mac and Windows. http://www.blackmagic-design.com/support/
Beta 4 includes support for Final Cut Pro X XML1.1 including import of color, sizing, opacity and composite mode settings from FCP X. It also corrects some issues we had with beta 3 and includes general stability improvements.

Speed prores improvent in Windows ?

Thanks
luigi

Am I missing something with your question? I thought Windows programs couldn't write to prores due to licensing issues...

ciao Jake,
the version 8.2 beta 3 write in prores,,,are hours that are render, I tried the new beta and apparently they took the ProRes.
I hope the next version of the reinstalled :(

Installed the new beta, but also with the previous version was the same. If I try to render a sequence with a video track of Epic files and a second video track with tiff subtitles with node matte with alpha output I can't render at full res premium with red rocket. If I remove the second subtitle track I can render at full res premium. I want to try to disable the red rocket and see what happens. With version 8 is possible to add a video subtitle track, put the composite mode to add and you get subtitles. The problem is the composite mode remove the outline around the text, so the text is white and sometimes barely visible (it depends from the image). A work around is to add a matte to the subtitle track. It's not a straight process, I'd like to have a full support for subtitles in Davinci.
Don't get me wrong, I love Davinci Resolve, it's incredible and it's getting better and better but I report the problems to improve it more!

I hope it will include the option to transcode MXF wrapped Jpeg2000. That will be a time saver for DCP authoring.

Just ordered a SuperMicro Superserver 7046GT-TRF as our chassis for use with 2x GTX580 3Gb cards, and a Quadro 4000 for the GUI.

ProRes in Beta 3 (Although slow) was huge for me and our producers in house when we found out......I really hope it is there to stay as this really closes the gap between Windows and Mac.

I would grade on a mac, but I hate the limitation of GPU support, and enough PCI-Express slots (without an expander that has limited bandwidth anyway)

Rumor has it that Apple is going to use "Kepler" GPUs with the new Mac Pros, but at this point still.....only 4 PCI-Express slots (and not all of them 16x) I get 4 16x slots on the SuperServer.

If ProRes is coming back this is a MAJOR victory.....if not DNXHD for me :)

I'm really sorry to hear that Prores isn't supported with the latest update. For me the prores support was also a huge leap, and a reason to stay with the PC version. I hope it is coming back in the next version.

thought the same,

Peter and Rohit, and the team Blackmagic will give us great satisfaction to the next relaise official at NAB, I am convinced :). Support for ProRes is near the project as evidenced ffmbc http://code.google.com/p/ffmbc/ . I tried the beta 3 with ProRes, was a little slow and did not go beyond the 7 fps, I had some problems during the decoding of some 180 files were encoded only in half, while for the files in 4K once exported and imported adobe premiere could not view images were divided into 4 equal, a bug for sure.
If you do not happen, I will have to convert my hp z800 in hackintosh ... only for the ProRes ......

Alright so the SuperServer 7046GT-TRF is here. It's been set up with the following specs.

2x Intel Xeon X5650 2.67GHz
48GB of DDR3 ECC Ram
1x Quadro 4000 Gui Card
2x Nvidia GTX 580 3072mb Cards
1x Red Rocket
1x Decklink Extreme 3D
1x Atto R680

Connected to a Stardom 24TB Raid 5 system.

So far on Beta 4 this system is screaming.....Few bugs here in there in the beta and probably some performance tweaks could be made.....but it's getting there.
