  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Davinci Resolve 12.5? NAB2016

has to have enough horsepower to render your peeeceee's timeline, a macmini is far from able to render a timeline sourced from raw at full premium, with nr and ofx

think something close to what you are running in your windoze machine, so fro me it would be a loaded 2012 or so - not cheap

Curious

Curious

If you guys are finding a bottleneck over a 1gbe if your shared storage you're rendering to and your source footage is on your windows machine and you render via the mac, so you're pulling and pushing essentially, over the 1gbe. If that makes sense.

Would be great if there was a cross platform 5gbe from USB3 to easily connect the 2 machines over 5gbe. I can't find anything like that, so is the only option to go to 10gbe?

10gE is cheap and it is super easy to set up, just like 1 gE.

Mellanox does make a 10 gE card, that work on both Win and Mac.

Hi Jake,

Thanks for the response...I'm on a single CPU board so losing 8x lanes is kinda brutal. But I appreciate the information. I only have 1x1Gbe from my board so I was hoping o find a good USB 3 solution. I've found some that have been benched doing about 80 MB/s which is ok I suppose. Would be sweet if someone made one that used the full 5gb from USB 3 or even a 2 x nic to a 2 x nic giving a total of 2gbe. Or something else I've never heard of...?

Hi all,

For DVR 12.5 Studio, BMD lists the following as supported.
4K2160p 23.98, 4K2160p 24, 4K2160p 25, 4K2160p 29.97 and 4K2160p 30.

What does that actually mean? What happens if I shoot in 6K as I intend to? What would be the advantage of Studio vs the free version of resolve?

Apologies if this is a basic question. I understand the free version has a UHD limit, but I'm curious to understand what the underlying benefits are, and if the studio upgrade is worth it for me.

Thanks!

I did a 5K 5120x3480 project about six months ago in Resolve 12 and -- aside from sometimes going as slow as molasses in January -- it worked fine. You can always set custom resolution sizes in Resolve. I don't know how high it goes, but I would assume 6K and 8K are possible if you had massive hardware and storage.

If you can afford to shoot in 6K, you can afford to spend a few hundred dollars on Resolve. I see legit dongles up for sale on eBay all the time for $300-$400.

i have footage with scratch audio and auto sync on resolve doesnt work.i sync it manually on edit page and export it however im getting only scratch audio. If i deliver single clip i get the footage with external audio synced but its not working on multiple clips.Just want to sync it footage manually with audio then deliver individual clips with non scratch sound.any way to do this on resolve 12.5?
