YES!!!!!
Actually just sidetripping RedCine would be lovely!
I think if you implemented preview functionality into Crimson, I wouldn't upgrade to build 16 before Crimson was ready....
And than - of course, if you could just send your gluetools dpx directly into a FCP project or color or whatever with a correct edl from Crimson
Or does that perhaps not make sense?
Makes sense. But if you could do everything you can do in RedAlert in a more project oriented environment, you'd do that instead right?

so I'm planning on starting with the small proxy quicktime files dragging all the footage into the time line w/o bothering to render and converting to xmf, then the whole crimson matching/reexporting to REDCINE/converting and then back to crimson thing.....Then making a new sequence in FCP and importing 1080p and editing them w/o having to render. Guess there will be a substantial amount of render time in REDCINE though, FCP should work better at least.
i'm having trouble with workflow into RedAlert... i tried to contact you (ian) from your site but it says that the server is full which is great for you but bad for me hah.. anyways.. if you have any tips that would be great.. i'm used to using the intermediates and everything for RedCine and just recently switched to RedAlert. i'm just unclear as to how everything works together that way. thanks for any help

Well,
...it's blind, there is no way to view the footage as you setting your color settings. Yet.

You think Crimson is too expensive?
Why?
Imho it is right now the only easy workflow with red beside Scratch.
120 € for this cool stuff is super
How's end of may 1.0 release coming?
New XML/EDL engine is built. I'm converting all my old code over to the new system. Not going to make my deadline, but beta release soon.:turned:

I agree to the point that Crimson was the missing link for a good post workflow. But compared to the price and functionality of Final Cut or Redcine it looks like a bad deal. And the chances are quite high that soon Crimson won't be needed anymore.
Maybe this is something for Crimson: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14226
Pulling the audio from the proxy file and attaching to the rendered one.
Crimson acts as an interface for Redline. So you never need to interact with Redline directly. Crimson takes care of the hard part.Ian,
I don't know about others, but I bought Crimson since it integrates so well and EASY with Redcine as we know it today. I am a cinematographer; I do not want to be writting commands using Redline...![]()
I suggest you create a video training using the Redline.
I think you are overreacting.since I am having the sence that Redcine will be obsolete VERY SOON if it is not upgraded for Build 16. That will be a disappointment, and a hugh one! :waaa:
Can you ellaborate on what do you really mean with " high quality codec" and "gradeng elswhere"? Thanks!
