You are such a nice guy, it really makes me sick to hear about this happening. Apart from just being shot, is your health otherwise doing okay? I'm sure the whole Reduser community will be thinking about you and hoping you get better soon.

There aren't any special identifying marks / scratches / etc on your lenses or stuff, are there? I know it's a one in a million chance that anyone here will come across your lenses but let us know. Otherwise, we'll all be hoping the police manage to track this guy down.

So sorry that this had to happen in your life. And you are such a good, generous chap - offering to lend Red people stacks of lights, etc... when you decide to shoot something, just let us know what you need, okay? If there's anything I could do, I would do it.

thanks for your support and kind words.

And thanks to ll of you responding with support on this matter, it is refreshing and positively pushes me forward, I'm always very strong and positive kinde of person, so much has appened in my life and I managed to continue strong head on in pursuit of my dream, this time was a little different, lost of sense of security, finding out for the first time wath it means to be completely at the mersy of a criminal olding a gun to the back of your head after has you shot and tied up.

You see your life at end, no more love ones to see no more, no more second chance on finding a new love, no more time left on your clock to fulfill your dream.

It has not been easy at all this days, especially eving just moved to this area short a go and not eving any friends, the new house has taking a new ora of it's own, but as the original post started as a warning tool is now giving me the support of you Redusers and showing me how wonderfull this community is, and that people do care.

Unfortunatelly all my lenses and cameras were in perfect 10 condition not a single scratch on it, but the lens hoods of the 50mm 1.2L, 85mm 1.2L II, 135mm 2,8L, & 200mm 2.0L II were heand shaped as a petal hood so you will see markings from filing them down on those wich were have being circular other wise.

Again I appreciate all of you giving me your kind words, I'm doing just fine, and as the police continues the invastigation my insurance company works on refunding my lost property( at list I hope most of it), wath sucks is that as I had said in Vegas during NAB, I was tryng to organize a party in my house to serve as House warming party and a Show of gratitude foer the RED team and wath they are doing for as all, in theyr project and in this forum keeping as involved, so I was to put a thread to start collecting RSVP for the occasion, but now it will have to be post poned, but I wanted to do sao now more thyen before to also bring a new positive energy in to my new home that I almost finished all by my self so I care about it.

I find my self in a Writer/Director/Producer/Human being BLOCK, so I need to have this party so to shake this expirience off of me.

I was using Craigslist yesterday, looking for a condo to buy. The people that are real desperate to sell and have had their condo on the market for a long time are now puting them up for rent and or looking for roommates. I thought it was quite risky to rent out a spare bedroom to someone you met over the internet. But I have met lots of friends over the internet in the past. I guess I am lucky not to have met a bad apple. Hope you get better soon and that the police find the criminal.

I had use Craigslist many times before also in Miami and I started using wen after a bed accident I was left at home with a badly broken knee and not being able to work or move much at all, so I decided that my twoo bedroom was to uch for me to pay for and decided to rent out a room to a complete stranger and started posting on Craigs, many roomates later never a single problem, but this one time was quite different, a cruel lesson to be learned, and it was a very bed one and so I like others to be more carefull much more then me, as I wish this expirience on to no one also.

Also, never underestimate the stupidity of the criminal mind. I would not be surprised if this idiot had your lenses and gear back up on CRAIGSLIST itself soon! I hope you catch this fucker. Just monitor ebay and other such sites, and call around to camera shops and pawn shops and let them know to be on the lookout for this particular gear. It's not like this guy is going to be able to sell such high-end photo equipment to his low-life friends -- he will probably be stupid enough to try to sell it online or pawn it.

Hi Tom,

it was a 22 semiautomatic, a small bullet in it self but one of the worst to get shot with it, the bullet hit me in the right sholder as I had follen down fighting Him and as my arm was lift toards His gun still tryng to do something He shot me, the bullet given the arm position hit the shoulder recoiset off of it getting in to the cest and going in to the back rib cage getting stucked in on of the upper ribs, incredibly with out touching any major organs, and they left it in there so not to cause demages that the bullet avoided by pure miracle.

So yes I know I'm very luky to be still here today.

Your post reminded me of a video I saw on TV some years back on the proper way to disarm a robber. I can't imagine I'd have the frame of mind to do it right, so I can't imagine the amount of adrenaline going through your system. Just shocking!

in reality the opponent allways move fst with and against you, also the space is limited in every different space and location, in my case across my desk in a very confined space, as for the Adrenaline rush, I did not ave much as bowth of my kydneys were removed 3 years ago and considering taht the glands that produce the Adrenaline are located on the top part of the kidneys.. well no adrenaline rush for me.. no more.

but wath I had was an irrational instinct of survival coming from near 12 years of figthing all over the world for money, so this was the reason why I attacked Him, unfortunatelly it was wrong and stupid of me considering my current health status, so it was also a wock up call to understand that my body will never respond to me the way i did before all the surgeries I had.

Also yes it was shocking but my problem has wlways being that I have no Fear, infact as a very very Stupid man, after I was shot and tied up I was dragged in to the bedroom closet and as the upstairs bedroom has corpet I was thinking, great! Now is going to stain my carpet with blood,

yes I think that something is no longer working properly in my brain.

Sorry for your terrible experience, Ketch. This brings up something I've been wondering about myself for some time now. I recently moved into a house. So, naturally, I bought a gun for "home defense." Not that I DIDN'T need it in the apartment (where it was arguably a much more dangerous area). But if I ever had an encounter with a home invader, would I shoot?

I bought a Mossberg 500 18.5"-barrel shotgun (see below). I bought both buckshot and slugs. Now, if I aim this thing at a would-be attacker and pull the trigger, that guy's going to be history. Do I wanna blow a guy totally away that's just trying to steal some Nikons? I asked the gun store guy, "Why can't I just load the first round with a blank shell?" Everyone I ask (including police officers) always says, "Don't do that. Shoot to kill."

My reasoning is that most home invasion burglers are just out for a few easy bucks, and that the sound of a menacing shotgun blast alone would be enough to scare them off. I don't want to kill them. But being a handheld camraman, I'm also a pretty darn good shot with a handgun or rifle (even though this shotgun is the first weapon I've ever owned).

Here's what I would like to do: Load the first round with a blank shell. The second round with a buckshot shell, and the third round with the slug. At the first sign of an intruder (with no visual), I fire the blank shell into the air. I kill nobody, and scare 99.999% of any would-be attacker off before any live rounds are fired. The second round, the buckshot, would take him out at close range. The third round, the slug, can put someone down at longer ranges, without injuring any bystanders. The gun is right next to my bed, unloaded, with no gun lock; the only rounds readily available are the ones on the side saddle. Extra ammunition is kept in a locked metal cabinet.

Don't assign guilt or prepare for guilt over actions you have not taken. If someone MAKES A CHOICE to put themselves at risk by threatening you, in your home, then you should not feel guilt or hesitate to protect yourself and your family and home.

is not that I do not have guns in my house, I also have much expirience shooting guns, I have severall tactical heand guns and tactical high precision rifles; unfortunatelly my gard was down in trusting this person that I let in to my home to see and maeby purchase that wich I was in the intent of selling so as I was in the upstairs studio to show Him the camera He acted immediatelly and as I turned to get a cable He pointed His gun at me and ordered me on the floor, no guns of my property were on site, so I attacked Him and try to disarm Him, unfortunatelly He was strong and fast and my self... well I was not strong in off and the fact that I wast fast in off to surprise Him and grab the gun, meant nothing.

Now wen you here some body braking in to your home, now the senarial is very different, and yes allways shoot to kill, that is wath they say is best to do, but the main Q? is who gives a Man the right to take another mans life?

For me I will be willing to do so only in the true event of self defense meaning it has to be the absolutelly last resort.

People that talk about killing are usually those that have never done it, but in all reality killing a persobn will stay with you all of the rest of your misarable life, because that is waht your life will be after killing some one.. miserable, in life one must allways face consecuences, and remember even criminals have family, childrens, mother/father, they most of the time are normal people thath will soffer the lost of theyr love one just like any other would.

The after effect of the lead in the body has cause severe fever, and on top of it as I have a kidney transplant I take antirejection medication that destrois the immune system so you do not reject the new organ, so no medication on top of medication is sujjested, just deal with it and go on, so the one is a big issue, fill tiered all the time and at times strugol to get up but I must regaine my straingth no matter wath.

I have to go back to Italy soon and will do a comprihasive testing for my kydney and for sure get a second opinion on this bullet in my body and future risk of kippin it in me.
