Hi, does anyone know of an app or program, that you can load in an FCP7 project file, then dump out an XML (Premiere compatible or DVR). I've got hundreds, if not thousands of project files that i need to convert, so a batch program would be even better!

Any pointers, tips or ideas welcome!

Pretty sure you need FCP to export the XML. If I am not mistaken, the XML from FCP7 is the same XML that will nicely import into Premiere. But, again, I don't think there is a tool that will open FCP7 files and dump out the XML.

No way to do this as a batch. You'll need to hire a guy.

When you say hire Mark, does that mean you know a guy who's written a tool i can buy, but it's not a batch tool. Or i just need manpower to get the job done?!

Yes this would require FCP 7 to read the project file abd export the xml(s)

I remember creating scripts back in the day to automate some FCP7 stuff so it should be doable but for hundreds or thousands of projects I cannot imaginenot having some manual work involved for some projects with specific specs, missing files or multiple timeline to export...

I'd hire an assistant editor for a few days to sit there and hit the button. AE's are great for tasks like this, particularly when there's a duplicate system they can use (or even multiple systems). I also think there are enough people trying to get into the editing business right now that you can find someone affordable if you look around.
