OK... so listen up.

You/we want it all.
You/we want it now.
You/we want us to consider new ideas and incorporate them in the program to make the project better... as SOON as we can. The market is changing and so must we.
But you/we don't want any schedule slips...

Even with the softening of our urgency (no more 20 hour work days) and all the changes we have made and are making, we are still hoping for late summer of this year to begin the rollout of the new lineup. We have only one wild-card that could irritate all of us... the ASIC. But we are taking every precaution we can to not have that bite us.

But please remember that more features and keeping the schedule are mutually exclusive. At some point, you/we have to pick one or the other. After this latest round of changes... we are done. If you want more... there is a price to pay in the schedule.

Red is good enough (massive understatement), take the time to get the next gen rock solid and awesome, schedule be damned

You can improve until the cows come home and have the best camera on earth but if it don't ship it don't sell.

So you go with ASICs instead of FPGAs this time?
Good for performance, but not so good for updateability...

I counted only 48 cards in play ...
that means 4 still up Jim's sleeve

here here...the glass is needed to topple the current atrocities being commited to unsuspecting buyers of what left of the surviving antiquites on the market....As for a new body,as if matters what i think, I for one say take your time !! that just gives us all more time to sqeeze the juice out of the current body...sorta speak

Will a hidden card come out at NAB?
Looks like its not arrival dates judging by post 1.

I'm with Shawn on this one. At least regarding EPIC, show us what you got and if there are certain design ideas a lot of people don't like then you may as well fix them and let the schedule slip. Anyone can buy a RED now and use it until a really good version of EPIC ships.

You might want to bust a move on the low end version of Scarlet though. People are figuring out how to make the 5D II work for lower end stuff while they wait. That train ain't stopping.

I guess that means full iPhone 3.0 bluetooth control is out of the question... :)

But seriously, people were begging to buy Boris with build 1.0, whatever you release, there will be a long line of happy people with cash in hand willing to trust Red.

The economy has changed massively. Take your time. Although unless there is some other monumental shift in America I would stick to this timeline you seem to be suggesting. End of the summer. Regardless of whether it has every feature, etc.. At some point people will not trust or believe you if you blow threw every deadline time after time.

No danger of that now. But if nothing came out till 2010, I'd say that would put a damper on new announcements and some trust on weather one can believe the time tables.

Stick to the by Labor Day plan and I think that timing should be good for quite a lot of people. You can always upgrade or make different versions down the road. All new buyers realize I think, that we are pioneers and the gear will need to be updated. I know that's NOT the point of the modular design, but some things take a couple of tries.

Anyway, what do I know. That's my take-
