I hope you all enjoy this commercial. It's not epic like a Fincher spot hehe, but considering the limited budget we had, I am really excited about what we were able to put together. It was a concept that I shared with close friends but I never got around to executing it. Then came Kenneth Nguyen who gave me the push to just do it. He generously offered to cover half the cost of the commercial and did an amazing job with organizing the project. This was also a great Reduser collaboration with Blair S. Paulsen, Ketch the "Italian Stallion" Rossi, Obendega (Justin O'Neil and his wife Magda), Elcurado and Tekcin. The DP - Cooper Donaldson, steadicam Operator - John Hankammer, the actor Jonathan Dane were new acquaintances, yet they volunteered their time and effort to help me. My old co-workers (Kenneth Greene-priest, Kelly Holmes and Mark Molbegott) jumped in with no acting experience and knocked it out. Devin Anderson, who I never even met, rocked an original soundtrack. Elcurado did the amazing graphics for the ending. I was so lucky to work with such a talented group. Last but not least, special thanks goes to the entire RED team for producing such a compelling product. I love this camera! =)

Ketch, I was thinking more about Hollywood trillers and TV serials shot at casinos, hotels, streets and villas in Las Vegas.

I am afraid, that it is not film that is dying, but filmmaking itself.

Please don't mention Fincher and your short in the same sentence. It is not just the budget that is to blame for your worse than a 1st-year filmschool-level obnoxious short. What are you...like 15? Even if it is meant as a joke, at least tell it right!

The close-ups scream "over-lit" and never match with the mediums. One can even tell the brand of your HMI from that awful shadow on the tree. Frame sizes are all over the place, and you can practically see your steadicam operator's every single step when he moves (I'll take hand-held over mediocre steadicam any day).

The editing is as bad as it gets...not a single cut feels right. Continuity is all over the place, and you keep trying to match-cut on "performances" that greatly vary from shot to shot. It is like a high-school student short film, and very enervating to watch.

The lip-sync on the priest's close-up is laughable at best. Yes, it is almost 2009, and this is really the best you could do?

Cutting the tilt-down from the statue at that point, feels like as if you run out of options in the editing room (bad place for that shot no matter how you look at it), and what on earth is the shot of the couple walking away from the camera doing there anyway? Especially since you cut right back to them again, standing among the crowd.

Film was not born/invented/created in 1892...get your facts straight.

Worse of all is that all the fanboys here love it and are "very proud to be part of it"... I wish it was even just a little bit genuinely funny, or even remotely cinematic...

"Controversial" ? Not even close.

Ed Wood would be proud....

EDIT: Don't care anymore. Forum driving me nuts, taking a holiday.

Looks like everyone had a nice lunch...

Hi Phedon,
Yes, I'm proud. And I'm not Ed Wood. Have a nice Christmas!

Congratulation!

Very nice Virgin post.

LOL, What have you done? Finished? Writing, or Directing?

"Every journey start with a first step."

I think Tonaci took a great leap for his first as Director and Writer.

Merrry Christmas.

All of the above, and then some. Google is your friend...

Phedon

I call BS! Someone with those credits would have learned some tact, humility and respect over the years. Also, the use of language and sentence structure seems quite different from interviews I have read. There is no way this poster is the Phedon Papamichael.

It is a shame there isn't some way to verify the handles people use on Reduser. Perhaps someone could contact the real PP and let him know he has an imposter on Reduser.

PS - nice job on the spot, guys. Although I was offended by the Bolex abuse. That was just wrong.

I see you have your own Wiki page.

Nice.

I would love to put a face to the name.

Can you post a picture of yourself?

Welcome to REDUser.

Merry Christmas.

Fun little flick, Tony - thanks for including me.

Looks like it's already ruffling some feathers and stirring up some controversy!
