  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Control...

My first thought looking at that, as well. BNC's can be a pain if they're too close to something else (like the well they're in, or each other) and you can't get a good grip to twist them.

I have to deal with this issue often when cabling routers. A simple screwdriver style BNC tool solves the problem and saves your fingers.

Right angle BNC. Now the hose runs along the body, the collar is easy to access and they can come from any direction. done.

Red gun looks like it places the body above the shoulder, the focal plane at the eye and all of the controls into the grips.

Or those look like optical ports and something else is happening....

Red is going into the business of positron accelerators.

Easy. Four screws from the front.

My friend has a 1963 Renault Caravelle and he swears he can pull anything out and replace it (engine, clutch, brakes, etc) with four screws only.:auto: It's his catch-cry. (Trademark pending.)

But in this configuration, 3 cables with 3 right angle bncs can't go to the rear or downward (as they will block audio) one can go to the rear and the others would go vertical.

Also, use of right angle connectors for audio is desirable to reduce camera width and reduce incidents of cable failure.
The connector layout design appears not to be driven by ergonomics but by circuit board design?
The 12 volt in could be positioned rear most (assuming this is a view of the RH side of the module)

The user replaceable fan is a great idea, perhaps it may offer scope for fitting a physically larger unit with higher capacity?

Which wireless frequency does RED remote work on? I guess bluetooth frequencies would allow its use worldwide?

Will it be possible to develop some advanced timelapse functions for the REDmote, like maybe exposure-duration ramping, iris ramping, small-increment ISO ramping, etc? Will there be any ability for open-source-style development of custom camera functions (or "apps"?) for the REDmote, for example? Jim said something about "User options times forever..." so that got me to wondering.

French engineering is very underrated in some ways. They produce some very elegant designs. The first time I changed the starter on a Peugeot 505 it took two hours to figure out the trick to getting it out from under the intake manifold. After that it was a 15 minute procedure involving only two screws and two wire terminals. The intake manifold split two cylinders to a side in a curved shape that provided equal length intake to the cylinders and left a hole in the middle just large enough to hand the starter through.

yes there will be a new nikon mount... :)

will it also support the electronic nikon lenses that would be awsome, but i can understand if its not possible.

anyways i cant wait to drop my money for a scarlet s35

Holy shit, guys. There's some insanely awesome stuff here.

A few things I can't figure out: does the control unit have a lock on it? Also, what's the 3-pin port on the port module? Is it what I'm hoping it is?

Very cool, guys...

My Red One arrived yesterday. After reading this thread, I still can't decide if it was the best purchase ever or just an expensive paperweight.

Hope it's not the latter. Words of encouragement welcome. Thanks Jim! ;)

Dude, you've got a 4K RAW cinema camera. What could be more encouraging for a digital filmmaker?

Besides a 5K Raw camera, obviously.

Put it on the back, the right, left, top, or in your shirt pocket... anywhere you want. Wireless control of your EPIC or Scarlet. User options times forever...

Details of the release schedule for EPIC and Scarlet coming sometime in October. We are taking our time so you won't be disappointed.

Please sir, may I have some more?

Damn this camera is going to be awesome. I might have to breakdown and get the 5K Epic and then see what's going on when the 6K FF35 Epic comes out. Hopefully in October we'll get an updated roll out schedule for the Epic brains.
