  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Control...

I have to deal with this issue often when cabling routers. A simple screwdriver style BNC tool solves the problem and saves your fingers.

Right angle BNC. Now the hose runs along the body, the collar is easy to access and they can come from any direction. done.

These aren't solutions, they're workarounds. A well-designed piece of kit works effortlessly with almost anything you throw at it.

It looks like it could be a little tricky connecting and disconnecting BNC connectors in that small space. Any chance it could be slightly larger so you can get your fingers in?

I agree, it would be great if it were easy to connect / disconnect the BNCs while all three are attached without using a Trompeter.

Great stuff Jim...

These I'm using for years... rear twist... rotate the whole shell while cable stays put (not turned)...

or the push pull type...

so... I know we are going to get the release schedule in October, but I wanted to know, if it was ok for u to tell us if we see scarlet and epic this year or next? with out any major details, just round about information

I was hoping the same thing, and I would bet we're right. With going to standard connections everywhere else (BNC, full XLR, 5pin-lemo timecode)...

The more I look at it, the more it looks like something different. On the stills I have of the module, it has a keyway... something a Fischer 3-pin does not.

...The batteries are rechargeable and replaceable at a service center. They are not AAA-like. Not enough room in the box for easy replaceable.

Jim

Jim,
Are the batteries lithium-ion or lithium polymer?

That's fine for owner operators, but what about rentals? We can't rely on having a specific cable type for ease of use.

Like I said, though, I'm sure the connections will be accessible. I mean, they have to be, right?

A great many decisions have been made on these designs. Fantastic! Can't wait to get my hands on it all.

Hope Two RedMotes can work together and have power cord connections as options?

It all looks fantastic! Can't wait to find out more about the RED Gunner!!!

Quick question about the REDmote... It has its own internal, rechargeable battery. That's great! But, when the REDmote is physically connected to the camera (not used wirelessly) can it be powered by the REDvolt or RED Brick batteries at the same time they power the camera? I'd love to be able to not keep track of the REDmote battery level, and just worry about hot-swapping the REDvolt batteries to power the camera and REDmote.

Does this make sense? Of course, when used wirelessly, the REDmote would need to use its own internal battery.

A few holiday pictures. All I need is a RedGunner and I'm set

Correct assumption. When docked to the camera, REDmote is powered from the camera (and commences re-charging it's internal battery)

You can also recharge the REDMOTE from a standard 3rd party USB charger.
