  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Compression artefacts? red spots

Looks macro-y. Is it possible you have a bright tally light getting reflected by the waves?

Strange that it's only on the crest of the wave, and not in any other 'High movement' area of the frame.

Does it appear on the next wave in the same spot?

No, I've never seen this before. This only happened on this particular shot, on those particular frames. All the rest of the shoot is ok.

I'm looking at the raw data and I'm not seeing anything indicative of compression artifacts. What is interesting is that the red dots are in-focus where the water is in focus and out-of-focus where the water is out of focus which would indicate there's a red light in the scene somewhere and reflecting off the water.

Perhaps one of those LED headbands with a red light used to protect night vision? It really does look as if the light source is to the left of the camera, looking almost 90 degrees across the front of the camera.

There is in fact a red light (small harbor entrance light) at about 50m from this place.

But strangely the saturation/form of those red spots don't indicate any reflection type of light... They are so fluorescent.

But looking at the direction of this reflection as pointed out by Michael, I think this is THE ANSWER...

Thanks to all! And hats off for Graeme who sees beyond the pictures! ;-)

For not "knowing" there was a light there, that was some Rain Man shit. XD
