  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Competition to guess Scarlet's features and price-tag!!! (FREE post for indi short!)

and one more thing -- it will be priced in-line with still cameras, not video cameras. in keeping with revolutionary pricing, it will offer more, but be priced less than, say, high-end Canon still cameras. So body-only it will be in the 5K-6K range. And at that price, if it can do everything a 5D can do, plus shoot 2K REDCODE RAW, it will be the bargain of the century.

-2k
-35mm sized sensor
-different lens mounts available
-records to flash memory cards
-up to 120fps
-7000 USD

Probably this is all wishful thinking...

- 2k
- S16 or 2/3 sized sensor
- interchangable lenses
- SxS Card Recording like Sony, but also with standard cards and accepts all kinds of SxS media (Flash, Hard Drives, CF-adapters, maybe Network ? ..)
- up 100 fps @720p, 60 fps @2k, depends on card speed
- redcode raw (I guess it is confirmed yet ?)
- good to handle, but smaller than HVX / EX-1
- 4 ch 24bit Audio, uncompressed, 2 channels with Mic preamps and Limiter, 2 channels for line input. Mini XLR.
- HDMI Output standard, SDI + Timecode / Genlock Board optional
- Body / Set w/o Lens: 6500 USD, Basic Zoom "Kit" Lens with Autofocus, comparable to the EX1 Glass: +1500 USD

what if its a 'pocket' camera not in size, but that it IS a pocket, that you could change out the sensor on the field by dropping other modules into it?

OK... final clue. We mean "coat pocket".

Conclusion

CONCLUSION:

Since no-one has guessed the 5+1, the price goes unclaimed...

However (As salut to Jim & all the indies out there) - we will offer the same* price (FREE postproduction in 3K* DCI for an independent short (up to 10 min), including audio and final mastering (value of over $ 15000,- USD)...) to the first fortunate owner of Scarlet who goes out there and shoots his short! Original script with a single still image from each scene proving You have finished the shooting will be required. As soon as someone claims the price - we will announce it here in this thread, elsewhere on this forum and also on our website to prevent You from sending stuff without reason...

Furthermore, as "Thank You" for participating in this thread, we will offer every person who participated 50% discount on our POSTPRODUCTION services for their first indie short (up to 10 min final edit) shoot on Scarlet (or RED ONE / EPIC).

*By the time Scarlet is available, we will be able to handle 3K (and 4K) workflow - for now "just" 2K...

Until then...

Peter
