  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Colorado REDs, sound off!

Meryem, are you based here in Colorado or just coming down for the festival?

very much here!

hey Erik -- i haven't pulled this together just yet, been absolutely swamped, so I'll add you to our list, will probably see if I can find a good time this month or else the first week in December. we have a good little group of half a dozen REDheads, should be fun.

hey Jeff, the last two of these workshops were on opening night...what does it take to get you through the door, my friend??

Workshops....

Hmmm. I guess I should stop spending 99% of my internet time on reduser and find out when they are first. Haha...

Does anyone have a line on an Optimo 24-290mm zoom lens?

The only person that I know who has used this lens in our state had in shipped in...does anyone local know anyone who has this lens and is willing to rent? If so, PM me...

F/VESCO might still have theirs, give 'em a call. But I think they may have sold all their Optimos by now.

Greg Milneck (digitalfx) has one. You would have to ship it in from Baton Rouge. Of course, there's lots of out of state rental houses.

Meryem and Jeff,
FYI-I sent you both a PM last night about MP&E's Optimo 24-290.
Thanks, Bryan.

PS-I have applied for a updated real name.

I hear crickets chirping, Meryem...

I hope some more of you guys are going to be at NAB!!!

Oh, and I'll be taking the shiny new 18mm RPP out for some random shooting (OK, I'll have other lenses with me too), later next week. If anyone wants to hang out and just shoot stuff.

I was there in the C session. Quick trip, but well worth it. Anyone else make it, any thoughts on what we saw/didn't see?

Brian from MP&E, send me a PM too as we are glad to know you guys are in town now, HINT, HINT...

Good MPE Experience

Good MPE Experience

Hey all,

We rented 2 ArriSun 12+ HMI's from MP&E a few weeks ago for a swimming shoot, solid experience, although some stuff is still coming from their non-Denver outfits, and there were no cases for the heads and ballasts, but overall, super happy to have them in Denver now! We had them gear shipped to Aspen as it was a short notice and deadline shoot, but they talked about using the bus, which we mountain people will do in the future with them.

Agree James. Don't know if we will be going, but it would be cool to have a meet-up of Colorado RED folks, even if in Vegas!

I'll arrive in Vegas early on the 13th and leave mid-morning on the 15th. So if anyone wants to meet up, hang out, etc...

Hey Colorado Red folk,

I'm trying to put together a premiere in the next month for a short film we did. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good theater to hold the event that we could get for $1k or less? Right now I'm looking at the Lakewood Cultural Center theater. They have 316 person capacity and a theater-grade sound system. Not sure on the screen or projector specs.

In my experience, real theaters will not book a Saturday night event because it's their money-maker day. We'd prefer not to have a weekday show, so that's another difficulty we're running into. Since we shot Red, we are pretty adamant about NOT using theaters such as the Bug or Chez Artiste.

I'd love some advice or tips if anyone here has some good info!

I'll definitely give them a call, thanks for the tip. Although we'd love something a little more central to Denver. But, if the price is right...

Talked to Tamarac Square. They've got a 240 seat theater with a 2k projector for $750 on a Saturday night. Now that's a damn good deal. Plus they sell booze!

That is a nice theater, the Tamarac. For a premiere, however, I'd suggest Starz - they have a large email list. Not sure what the projection options are - but people are used to attending indie film premieres there, and their email list has a big indie fan following. They will aid you in getting the word out, in a way that Tamarac probably can't - something else to consider besides price.

Thanks. I'm actually not too worried about getting the word out. We sold out our last show two years ago just from word of mouth by the cast and crew, so I'm actually pretty confident that we'll fill all 240 seats. Anyone here is more than welcome to attend, I'll make sure to put up the information once we book the date.
