I just compared the old EVF to the Bomb to the 5" on the Epic. Wasn't a big difference between the old EVF and the Bomb but both of them had less contrast/saturation than the LCD.

Hi Jim,
I'm not sure if the old EVF works on the EPIC yet, but try this...
Put the Bomb on the REDONE and then the OLD EVF on the red one.... see what you see.
then put the BOMB straight onto the EPIC... Massive difference..
However if I black balance with the bomb EVF attached, the blacks are rich again, and tint is gone.
I'll be honest, I haven't followed the entire thread, but my experience has been this:
When I swap between the LCD and the Bomb EVF my bomb EVF looks milky, and even worse, a sort of reddish tint.
However if I black balance with the bomb EVF attached, the blacks are rich again, and tint is gone.
But as you know this is a 20 minute process and not something you want to do unless needed, so mostly I use the LCD.
Dont Panic guys... The EVF is not that bad... The image to the EVF just needs a contrast tune up. Or maybe RED gives us our own EVF contrast controls to make our own blacks blacker...
But the EVF is still worth owning.
slightly off topic:
will scarlets ever be able to have the lcd touch and evf at same time without a pro I/O ?
I'm a Stage 4 owner to be, so have only used a rental on a six day shoot back in September and I remember specifically that the Bomb EVF image left a lot to be desired in terms of contrast and saturation... I sure hope they get onto this asap in the new year!
