I have a question about changing a project in R1 and having to formatt the red drive...

I use the R1 for wildlife projects, and sometimes, depending on the situations, will have to change resolution from so I can use hight frames rates, lets supose I'm filming in 4,5K at 24fps and them I want to film at 2K 120fps, when changing the resolution do I have to format the red drive?

Anyone can help?

Thanks

No. You only need need to format the drive when you change the project base framerate. In your example if you are shooting 4.5 K 24 fps then switch to 2K 120 fps VARISPEED all is good (keeping the project base framerate as it is : 24 fps).

In practical shooting situation you never have to change that base project "editing" framerate (like 24, 25 or 30) so you should never have to reformat the drive.

hope this helps

Thanks Mikael,

In that case, and supose my project base framerate is at 24fps, then I can change the resolution from 4,5k to 2k and after can go to varispeed and chande the frame rate to 120fps, correct?

Yes... you should be good with any frame size or varispeed as long as you never change the project framerate.

For long exposure time, like varispeed 8 fps (or extremly short exposure) it is recommended by RED to do a specific black shade... but that is another topic and luckily it is much faster on a RED One than it is on an Epic !
