Will there be a list of certified Cfast 2.0 media or can one expect to have every Cfast 2.0 (as long as it is 2.0) to work with Komodo?

If that's the case we could perhaps start looking for Cfast deals until Komodo is finally out!

Thought about this and figured the longer I wait to purchase my media, the cheaper it may possibly be. Could be wrong though - do companies jack up prices when notable cameras release?

Yeah we are testing everything right now and we will make the suggested list available to you. Angelbird AV PRO testing pretty well so far and the Progrades. Sandisk Extreme Pro's a bit more variance but still pretty great. Seems like a new one popping up every week.

Will Solidpod Cfast2.0 to mSATA bea possibility? If you'd like to test it out, I have one that I can send your way.

That’s great news. I don’t know if Egodisk is on your radar, but I was using them reliably for over a year with my C200 and the pricing is great. I’m sure they’d send you cards to test with if someone from your team got in contact.

It's a real shame how expensive these cards are. Real killer. Percentage-wise, it won't be as much of a hit with Komodo, but I've also been thinking about a Pocket Cinema 4K and a 512GB CFast literally increases the price of that camera 40%. One cool thing about that camera which isn't "pro" enough to offer on Komodo is using USB 3 SSDs, which are actually *faster*, for literally a ninth or eighth the $ per GB.

The prograde V2 cards have been tweaked to work with better with the canon c200 and c300ii, Otherwise they’re the same as the V1 versions.

That’s what prograde told me anyway...

I have a couple prograde V1 265gb cards. They work really well with no issues yet.

Recording straight to SSD is a nice feature of the bmpcc's. Do we know if the komodo might have this as well? (Sorry, might have missed this in the massive thread). Anyways, planning on getting some CFast card's as well, so I'll wait for Jarred's final approved list first.

I think that's what it is. When comparing the item descriptions on B&H I see for V2.0:

"Designed specifically for Canon DSLRs and camcorders being used for high-speed photography and video application"

Thanks for the info. I saw the bit about working with the Canon, but wasn't sure if there was some performance bit I was missing. Seems to be a bit moot now, B&H now doesn't seem to differentiate between v1 and v2.

There hasn't been an official "no," but I'd be astonished. Jarred specifically talked about HDMI not being included because it isn't robust and professional enough, and several people chimed in to agree. The way these SSDs get rigged up to PCC4k's makes HDMI look like bomb-proof armor plating, so...

Does anybody have experience with the differences between the Angelbird AV Pro and AV Pro XT? If there are any?
Seems that not even Angelbird really specifies differences between them or even list the XTs on the website.

You're talking about their "regular SSD models", SATA interface.

AV Pro MK3: https://www.angelbird.com/prod/av-pro-mk3-1899/?category=79

AV PRO XT: https://www.angelbird.com/prod/av-pro-xt-1208/?category=79

Main differences there are XT have a slightly higher write speed which helps with more demanding writing applications especially once the media gets warm and/or fuller in capacity.

As for Komodo, here's their CFAST 2.0 lineup:

Nothing has been made official yet regarding Komodo's media requirments, but generally speaking I don't see why all capacities here wouldn't work well.

Overall I personally would recommend 256GB and up CFAST 2.0 media in general as it tends to have better performance during a day of filming.

Taking this from Who thinks they will try get a Komodo at launch? Poll. since it's more relevant to continue that discussion here.

Yes-- I'm planning to order a regular production model as my 2020 camera purchase. The one caveat is that I'll hold off if it doesn't offer R3D recording at lower compression ratios-- I'd want to then see real-world results, and I'd think again about new options from Sony and Canon.

If it helps, CFast 2.0 minimum write speeds are around 400MB/s
Using Phil's frames to data rate tool: http://phfx.com/tools/framesToDataR...es=&seconds=&multiDay=&intermediateCodec=none
I get well below that, at 365MB/s for REDCODE RAW 2:1 @ 23.976 fps.
Since Jarred already mentioned that Komodo is in no way intentionally crippled against it's bigger siblings, it would be safe to guess that a 5:1 would be possible, accounting for physics and the fact that we are operating at a lower voltage which should take care of any thermal issues...

Anyone know if 256GB Lexar 3600X cards would be compatible with Komodo? A friend is selling a few of these in for cheap and I’m curious if I should take them.

It'd be nice to have more info! I'm gearing up for mine and want to pull the trigger on some media.
