  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Cfast 2.0 Options for Komodo

Does anybody have experience with the differences between the Angelbird AV Pro and AV Pro XT? If there are any?
Seems that not even Angelbird really specifies differences between them or even list the XTs on the website.

I asked Angelbird directly and this is what they said:

"Both have the same write, and read speed. Both are top quality products. However the XT's hardware parts are better and could last longer, and get more damage, and heat, cold...etc, and therefore the software is made to go with the hardware.

We stopped producing XT cards since they are more expansive, and were directed to some kind of people.
We still produce them, but only limited number and for certain customer that need this kind cards.

The cards you found on Amazon or B&H must be from our last production."

So the XT version is double the price and discontinued:

My guess is that regular AV Pro CFast 2.0 CF should work fine for Komodo since the other is discontinued.

Anyone got a link to the official approved media list?

Would be cool to get approval on my good old 256gb and 128gb Lexar 3600X since those are "worthless" for my Arri camera now, but always worked flawlessly.

Been a solid card for a few months

I have been shooting with the PixelFlash 256 card for a few months with no issues at all. My friend had to return an AngleBird Card to Red for replacement that caused all kinds of problems with his Komodo. I have read other people having issues with Anglebird as well, but I am sure the majority of people use that card so we would hear stories of problems with Anglebird even though that percentage is very low compared to the number of people using it.

I purchased the prograde card and it doesn't support 6k high frame rate.

I'm totally done with ProGrade. Been through 4 CFast cards and none of them were reliable on my Komodo. First 2 kept giving me an overheating warning and shutting down. Then swapping to Angelbirds was fine. 2 replacements did the overheating thing and slow media warning. The 2nd 2 were part of the batch that they identified an issue with regarding the slow media issue, but still... And they have never addressed the overheating problem, so I have no faith that a third try would be any different.

Interesting. I have 2 x 1TB prograde cards and they have been working perfectly for me on the Komodo. High frame rate at 6k and also long takes at MQ setting. Are you finding this to happen with HQ only?
