Thought I'd update everyone with another project using one of our EPIC-Ms - "Lipstick Liberal", with Nicole Myrick. (Political News Parody Show - ala The Daily Show)

Here's a new slow motion test shot on one of our RED EPIC cameras at 300fps. The FIREWORKS clip was partly a high-speed and DR test, but also just some good old fun.

My brother's kids sure loved it! (They were not around during the shoot, but watched playback).

Enjoy... (And I recommend full screen with the volume turned up.)

Surprised how mesmerizing it is! Outstanding!

What are those fireworks?

Thanks, Peter. Yeah, those crazy fireworks were some my brother found somewhere in Jersey... Pretty amazing. If there weren't objects that gave away scale, you could believe these were full size fireworks. Good for FX plates, I bet.

You just gotta love how music lines up with footage sometimes. At certain points, it's matched up beyond accurately.

Also, did you do a blackshade with that frame-rate/settings or generic?

Thanks
Joe

So true... The only point I synced to the music was the first explosion/crescendo. After that, those moments were just amazingly coincidental. The length of the song also just happened to fit the clip.

As far as Black Shading goes, we did not do another shading specifically for the high-speed, since it was more of a spontaneous idea.

Thanks for watching. :-)

I recently had the opportunity and honor of being asked to fill in on keyboards (for Dave Appelbaum) for the L.A. based band, The Mowgli's, when we played The Roxy back in December. I also offered to have the performance filmed, and asked my good friend, DP / camera operator, Art Santamaria, to shoot the show (on our Scarlet).

Here are two of the songs, "Slowly, Slowly" and "The Great Divide". The mixer's audio was not recorded, so all we have are tracks from a backup condenser mic. The shoot was just a test, and not meant to air anywhere, so there are some sections repositioning the camera, etc.

If you like the music and want to check out the band, The Mowgli's are going to perform again at The Roxy on May 8th for their new CD release party for "Sound the Drum".

Maybe I'll see some of you there. Love to hear feedback about the video...

Hi Everyone,

Thought I'd update our journal here with an upcoming feature film we were involved with.

Coming soon is the dramatic thriller, "Complicity", starring Sean Young ("Blade Runner"), Jenna Boyd ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants"), and Haley Ramm ("X-Men: The Last Stand").

"When a seemingly fun party goes horribly awry, a group of teenagers must decide their fates."

Written and Directed by: C.B. Harding
Cinematography by: Peter Holland
Shot on RED EPIC, provided by: RedCam Central

Nice Casey! I love it. What lenses was it shot on? Thought I spotted the cooke zoom but I'm not sure!?

Congrats Casey.

It sure is nice how the entire RED team is so supportive!

Mike

Finally put together my Director / Cinematographer reel. I assembled it pretty quickly, as I have an opportunity that required it, so it needs some work, but I'd love to know what you guys think.

Please keep me in mind for any projects and feel free to forward along. As I've worked on these productions as Director, DP, and sometimes other roles, I've listed each in the full credits on the website.

p.s. Special thanks to A.M. Pacific for use of the song "11:11" (Instrumental version).
