  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Carrion monitor delivery?

Anyone know of a good equivalent power supply for the Carrion? I'm talking about the boxy part that plugs into the monitor (and the power cord itself plugs into). Mine seems to have a frayed wire somewhere in the cord and has become very temperamental (cutting on and off when moved, etc). I assume I can buy one at Radio Shack or whatever but I want to get all the specs correct so I don't fry the monitor by accident. Has anyone else done this successfully? I feel like I read a post about it somewhere, but can't locate it now...

I would contact the Carrion tech support team they might be able to help you out.

GOOD LUCK:sifone:

GOOD LUCK:sifone:

Yeah, what was their 24/7 tech support number again?

Oh well, if I had the money to throw around I'd have bought the Panasonic, but the Carrion is pretty great so long as A) You actually receive it and B) It doesn't break. It's an 'adventure,' that's for sure.

Well, if anybody is in touch with Luis, or knows what is going on, this is the place to let us know. This forum gave this guy a lot of support and promotion for his venture. Seems only fair to reach to him and get some follow-up if its at all possible.
thanks

I briefly knew Luis Sinibaldi and never imagined he would end up in this sort of fiasco. It has been almost two years and I have no clue what he is up to, or who he is anymore.

This whole thing makes me a bit sick to my stomach. Every time it pulls back up to my User CP I am reminded that I was one of the many people saying he was a great guy, so on and so forth... because of this I feel duped myself.

If LS Design went under that is one thing, especially in this economic slump, but not communicating with people who's money he is holding is more than wrong.

The least that could be done is to silently take down this from the website:

"NOTE: WE ARE ACCEPTING ORDERS.
All orders have a 4-5 Weeks Lead Time before they Ship.
If you have any questions please send us an email."

Not taking down the PayPal button is...

Good heavens, I come back to visit the forum for a while... and find myself getting mentioned all over this thread.

Hope Luis has caught up on most of his orders by now. No, he's not a crook. He's just really slow. I think when he was pricing his monitors he didn't budget for the amount of customer service he would need to provide. Big mistake. But an honest mistake IMHO.

BTW, I see Viewfactor and Birger are actually shipping now - that's awesome. Hopefully a good sign :)

BTW while I was away did RED ever release those Windows Quicktime codecs they said they had a team working on years ago?

I am very busy right now but will talk to Luis and see what's going on. Get back to you guys within a month, I promise.

Thanks, Bruce. Please let us know what you find out. I don't want to put you in the middle of anything but I appreciate your making a connection to Luis and encouraging him to follow up.

Yes, I am in regular contact with Luis - but as a fellow filmmaker, not a customer.

I keep telling him to get out of the monitor business and start directing more because he's a very smart and good-natured guy. He has a good rep in LA as an extremely trustworthy producer.

- Would I lend him thousands of dollars worth of equipment? Yes, I have, many times - and would do so again.
- Would I leave $60,000 worth of camera package and lenses at his house? Yes, I have - and would do so again.
- Would I buy a monitor from him? Well no - I'd ask him if he had stock first!
- Is he TRYING to steal from everyone? No.

I have no idea when he'll get you his monitors. He has a lot on his plate. Like his day job. But the chances of Luis disappearing in the night are ZERO.

If he did that I would personally repay you guys from my own pocket.

I am not giving out his phone number though.

Any more questions? If any of you guys are ever in LA, give me a call and drinks are on me.

I'm super busy right now (finishing editing short film I directed, going to South Africa, sorting out next step with green card, doing day job, taking acting classes, finishing writing script, being with people who are important to me). So please understand that although I like you guys these other things come ABOVE the whole "bugging Luis" thing. It sucks to bug a friend. OK?

Do me a favor and don't tell him to get out of the monitor business until after he sends me the monitor I bought from him...

And if you are a good friend to him (and it sounds as if you are) you might gently prod him towards finishing up on his obligations. I'm sure you are right about him and his basic ethical nature, but all anybody is asking for is an email, an explanation and a commitment to deliver. You know, we are talking about thousands of dollars of other people's money.

Thanks again for your help.

Rob

Totally understandable Bruce, I hate bugging friends too. I think it's just crazy that he can't take 10 minutes once a month and make a post on here to update people. I said the same thing about VF a while back too; I think the people here are a reasonable bunch, and he doesn't necessarily need to contact everyone individually. Just something, ANYTHING to avoid the kind of acrimony he's creating would go a VERY long way. And anyone who knows him and can vouch for him as a person would HAVE to admit that continuing to take money while advertising a 4-5 week lead time is completely irresponsible and IS in fact fraud at this point.

We're all in the same business, and we all have sympathy for how absolutely insane things can get, but that sympathy could easily be continued and extended with an update once in a while. It's coming up on a year for some of us.

Like I said in PM to another of Luis' "benefactors", $2000 is just enough money to be INCREDIBLY frustrating, but not enough to completely sick the dogs on him. So there's still some room for satisfaction here if he can manage to do the right thing.

Okay, I'll bug him to give you guys an update. If I were him I'd probably be petrified of posting an update on the board because if I did that, I'd have all of the customers still waiting for stuff then email-flood me saying "WHY DID YOU FIND TIME TO POST A PUBLIC UPDATE BUT NOT BOTHER TO EMAIL ME BACK?!?!" But that comes with the territory I guess.

Thanks, Bruce, I know it is not a fun assignment. But I think really you are doing him a favor. I can't imagine all this isn't hanging over his head all the time. He can post a note and clear the air and get on with it.

Rob

Hi Everyone,

As you have read above, I have been contacted by Bruce and asked to post here. Mainly to say that I have not left the country or something like that.

Well, I have not, I also don't have a good excuse for not getting back to you guys earlier. What I do have is some good news for the guys that are waiting for their units. For reasons that I rather not discuss in public I have not been able to finish some units.

But I should be back on track with this. And as requested by one really generous and understanding customer, I will create a list this weekend with all the outstanding orders. Then I will have a schedule of when each order should ship. This will bring me to complete the orders I hope within a month.

I will offer my sincerest apologies to anyone that has waited this long, but I understand that it is not enough.

I hope this will help people with their schedule and help Bruce from getting some more emails.

Sincerely,

Luis Sinibaldi

Thanks very much Luis, for the update. I appreciate it. Please send me a note when you have a delivery schedule for us.
