  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Carbon Weapon Upgrade/New Order Update -

And thank you Jarred, 6k not a headache, as Mark pointed out, I have two great cameras, uncertainty is a headache. No way am I staying away from 8k. It is the reason I bought in. I also am moving on the Scarlet Monochrome. These two products are unique to the RED genus (and genius) and will be a chroma/luma palette I could only dream about pre RED. 8k is what makes the DSMC dream come true.

I am really excited that a lot more people are going to have access to the Monochrome sensor via Scarlet-W. It is so good.
 
I'm also looking really, really deeply on the Carbon. My original Epic personal loan is coming to an end. Seems like a good time to go again for another 5 year 30K loan and go Carbon. All for future possible 8K upgradeability. That's without a doubt the optimal DSMC "destination"!

Will 8k or 6k also be able to be purchased as a monochrome camera? Thanks for scarlet monochrome I think I may get it as my personal camera, my d camera for personal use

I know this might be the wrong thread, but is it possible to get an estimate on when the MGs will begin upgrade? Are we talking like March... May... August?

All depends on how quickly we get through carbon fiber allocations. But, I would think before what you listed.
 
The Upgrades take time. When you order a NEW Weapon for example, they have the lego pieces in front of them and just begin assembling, when you UPGRADE, they need to take your camera apart and use little pieces, not an easy task.. very lucky this company does this stuff.. most would never go through the trouble.. Lots of love there
 
well the upgrades are sweet i think cuz no matter how long it takes to allocate it not like I'm not making money on the unit as is with its current tech. i really love it cuz its got some serious lucrative nature between current revenue and retrofitting for higher revenue/new features. so who gives a damn how late you are in line for upgrades or how long it take i always think, its not like were not making cash the entire time we wait anyway? so thank you for the upgrade programs and i really appreciate it cuz it has helped me grow financially in ways i couldn't afford to do at once. i went from scrapping cash for a scarlet to having multiple luxury cinema models and growing and without the upgrade program and relatively small payments for upgrades it would of been way too much of a gamble for me to dream to do what i do now. like buying CF or Vista new would scare the crap out of me, id probably go own a house or anything else instead... but somehow this way has given me confidence, maybe proof of concept to move forward with cheaper, smaller units? whatever it is, luck, skill, hell if i know but i think i owe a lot of it to red and the upgrades for demonstrating I'm not crazy to have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars as a young professional

I was kinda expecting late-Jan - mid-Feb sometime.
 
I'm 90% thinking of going Carbon. Just need my finances ready for the loan (again) for it. It just makes sense. When one is as happy with his tool as I am with my Red Epic Dragon, the only solution is to keep on the ecosystem, take advantage of the love the company gives us with the upgrade path, but always looking at keeping on the forefront of their innovations. That path is Carbon Weapon. Its gonna cost. Its gonna mean more years paying. But its going to be worth it.

Jarred or any Carbon owners out there, is the serial number still craved on the bodies? This is actually one of the great "security Measures" Red has given us. If someone steals the camera, the Serial number is there for all to see.

When did you order? I went onto the upgrade during the "keep accessory credit"/"lower MG price" days. I reckon that those who ordered MG back in the NAB days will get the first ones?

There is a queue of queues. Timestamp dictates your position within a given queue. But the upgrade queues themselves have an ordering: first DRAGON CF then DRAGON-M then DRAGON-X then SCARLET-DRAGON. If you were the first to upgrade at NAB, with a SCARLET, you will be served after the other three queues have emptied.
