Canon C300 Announcement...

i think something is coming at the end with regards to that dslr in the background.

Who cares anymore. It makes me wonder who they are talking to about their line of cameras in the design process. I honestly don't know how they could have ended up on this: eyepiece, hotshot, amateur look, plasticy, etc etc. Anyway, I'm done with this disappointment in quality and design. I'm waiting for RED

Looks kind of like an Epic. I'm sure Jim and Co. are gnashing teeth at that.

Specs aside (and obviously the specs are what matter at the end of the day), to me this thing looks so much like Epic it's not even funny. They're also pushing the modular angle in some of the screen shots that have been posted from the event and doing so graphically in a way that I believe Red has done with Epic in the past.

In terms of form factor, I cannot believe that this thing would look the way it does without the benefit of Canon having seen at the least the mock ups of Epic first. Obviously I could be wrong, but if I'm not that's some shady s#!t.

"The beginning of the future of filmmaking"?? What rock has he been hiding under? or is this scripted?

You see this all the time. I'm certainly guilty of it. Canon is giving the film makers a platform to self promote and the more exciting what they promote sounds the better the self-promotion is by extension. He who has the most flashy statement about the product gets their own name/company the most press and is more likely to be in more press releases in the future. Never trust testimonials haha.

Now if you'll excuse me I need to put together some marketing for a product testimonial...

They have so much (baaaaaaaaaaddddddddd) copied from the Epic/Scarlet concept...unbelievably!!!

The 6000$ Scarlet was better than this, my world is RED!

OH MY GOD who's idea was it to have a q&a before even announcing specs!! Are you that embarrassed Canon?

Yes, Red, please don't follow the Canon presentation model in any way. We're two hours in without specs, pricing, or shipping dates

Yep, even with low expectations they archived to disappoint me, nothing more to say.

Sam's experience was similar, and could shoot green screen shots at ISO 16,000, which is, in his words "revolutionary in terms of speed."

What matters at the end of the day is what is up on the screen. Always and forever.

It's a full 4k sensor, with 1920 x 1080 pixels for the red and blue colors, and 1920 x 2160 pixels for green.

8:11PM List price is $20,000 and we'll see these hit stores by the end of January 2012. Yes, 2012. As in this coming January. Worldwide.

WHAAAAAAAAA!?

$16k was stupid. Now you can just buy a new MX.

The camera thing aside, I'm still laughing at the people who are oogling over the two zoom lenses as if they're new. They were released [announced] at NAB.

The most exciting thing to come out of this Canon announcement are the other new lenses. The new primes look great, too bad there's only 3 of them at the moment. Hopefully they're not cheap plastic construction like the Sony PL primes released this year!

EPIC-S is going to eat the C300 for a light snack.

but. on the other side, i give my applause to the guys of canon. they are really brave. to announce a camera with mpg2, 4:2:2. although the know for shure, in which quality league red is playing...
big applause for canon for being so brave.

lol, can't await 0300 am...
