  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Canon C300 Announcement...

Ok I have fallen out of bed laughing now - $20k? not that much more and you get an Epic. don´t they have market researchers? people actually checking whats out there today available and all? target group scouts and that sort of thing. who is suppose to buy this? its not even raw. it MPEG2 1080p with no slomo - this is beyond a joke. no HDR no still frame usage no uncompressed no 120fps (or whatever we are with epic now). nothing. its only marginally better then their PHOTO cameras - but only because they don´t do the lineskipping dance. ridiculous.

I know I’m looking at it in total disbelief. I’m looking at it thinking surely there has to be something better that can be squeezed out of that thing…or I’m missing some vital piece of information…

The most exciting thing to come out of this Canon announcement are the other new lenses. The new primes look great, too bad there's only 3 of them at the moment. Hopefully they're not cheap plastic construction like the Sony PL primes released this year!

Agree 100% maybe we get better lenses out of it.

With 7.9MP sensor and no look-around they are apealing to the 1080 crowd.

So it is 2K camera not 4K.

I am bit disappointed....$20K for 2K camera sounds like Sony revisited.

On canonrumors, they are listing it at $16k, not $20k like other places. That's what I posted on my blog, blog.anestivega.com, as well as a photo and some other tech specs.

It's actually so far beyond a joke that is went back to depressing again...

This camera is the most ludicrous "large sensor" camera to date. The 300C makes the AF-100 and FS100 look like the Sony f65...

Seriously... NO OVER-CRANKING???!!! THIS IS USELESS FOR COMMERCIALS AND MUSIC VIDEOS!!! WTF!!!

It’s almost embarrassing… but I guess it’s claimed to be really easy to use?

CanonRumors was from DVInfo which was rumor. $20k was announced at the event.

This was the biggest possible ad for Red I can imagine.

The game is still the same. Red offers the best value by far...

With 6MP sensor they are apealing to the 1080 crowd.

So it is 2K camera not 4K.

I am bit disappointed....$20K for 2K camera sounds like Sony revisited.

Exactly! My exact thought too. I thought the world had moved beyond that somehow?

That was speculated before the release at $20,000 in tonights meetings. The street price may actually be lower of course.

well we are all missing this vital piece of information - I am thinking that it might come with a lens or such?!?! - if there is some info missing they better set the record straight fast cause they are becoming the laughing stock of their potential customers just about now ;)

Red is in another league... in another universe. Canon is off in fantasy land somewhere... wandering around drunk.

they didn't totally ignore Epic, the design looks a lot like an Epic. Imitation being the most sincere form of flattery.

Cylindrical body, curved lines, buttons and dials on the smart side, rotating handle, built-in viewfinder.

So what did they manage to imitate ?
