  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Canon C300 Announcement...

Sony FS100 won over canon!!

I imagine this will have less aliasing and maybe more dynamic range but... yeah... considering Sony and Panasonic had almost a full year head start... this isn't really exciting for 2011 let alone 2012.

I don't see a $13,500 advantage in the EOS C300 to a 5D. Just don't.

Ok, I need a little confirmation on specs and the price, but at the moment it's looking awful like a pricey disposable plastic camera from Canon.

okay, so it looks like it's gonna be a 5d with a little better recording quality... but let's please avoid a fcpx repeat. we all know red's going to deliver way above the mark, no need to be hateful on the poor canon, it's gonna have a hard time with confidence as is - and honestly, i'm sure it makes some pretty good lookin' images. just too little too late for me, it seems...

on a brighter side, i'm excited to see vincent laforet's film and hear more about canon's commitment to cine-quality lensing. good stuff.

No No No, that is not THE Scarlet killer:nono:. Too expensive for that what you get.

I'd say that the 5D being full frame (and the difference in image that comes with it vs. S35) makes that camera more valuable than the C300.

Also, what kind of name is that?

how much did they have to pay scorsese to show up and sell this thing?

That’s what I was wondering too. He is awesome (from a teaching point of view), I saw him give a few workshops at UCLA nearly 20 years ago and I was so impressed by how he wanted to push young film makers to really think and experiment as much as possible to develop one’s own visual grammar and push things to almost unknown limits. I liked that …

Wow... Canon=fail. 60fps in 720p only? That is garbage... what a disappointment. How is this even better than the AF-100?

shhh. Don't tell Jim, I have a limited budget!

Problem is for like 3 years RED has been claiming a price point at around $6000 or the fixed lens scarlet. I mean only a few months ago like April or May I remember seeing Ted on Youtube.com stating the price point. They knew the demand then, knew the audience and hopefully have not have led on that many people into something they can't afford.

When the rest of the world seems to be heavily promoting obsolescence to keep them afloat, Red is hell bent on longevity.

I like the camera, however I just would not spend 16K on it. (If the price is as rumored.)

looks like another cam in the background

Yes, one is EOS mount and one PL mount. Same camera. Or you can simply buy the F3 with PL and buy a birger adapter that will have built in wireless follow focus. If other manufacturers, including RED can build internal follow focus for Canon lenses, why hasn't Canon?

Cannon asked for it to be ripped on at this point LOL

Nope it's more than that. In all of the c300 PL/EF shots the body is identical. That's something else... PL 5D MK2?
