I am having trouble getting my original REDrocket Transcode Dragon files.

Shooting on 2 Dragons not able to Transcode with my REDROCKET.
I hope that RRX is not my only solution considering there is not much external case support to be mobile at this time.
I am extremely happy with my M link external chassis.
And im out on the filed.

Or what am i missing?

Anybody?

Big Lu,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
Rocket not compatible with Dragon Footage, only RRX for now. Maybe get a suped up mac with a couple of GFX cards to do your transcodes, that would be faster that your existing rocket.

Is that information posted anywhere that you know of.
Im sure it is i just missed it.

Its such a set back and to be forced to go with RRX that I will have to recommend or shoot EPIC MX over EPIC DRAGON on jobs that require speedy turn around times on transcodes.

Thanks David.

Lu,

It's kinda here.

And I can't find another post which says Dragon support on RR is a lo priority. Maybe because that 5 year old tech of the original RR can handle the Dragon. I'm sure at some point the old RR will get Dragon support.

I'm trying to figure out the best way forward with lightweight mobile setups with Dragon footage. Something that would be just like what I have setup now with an Sonnet enclosure and a 2013 iMac in a case as an offload station. So far. It's all too new and the solutions are few. Not even sure how much of the dual GPU RCX will use in the nMP.

It should level out in about six months.

Lu,

Sonnet makes a new chassis for the RRX. It's currently TB1 but they offer a free upgrade to TB2 when it's ready. I've got the chassis just no RocketX yet. Hoping my upgrade gets called soon...

I can't tell you how much I really love my MLogic M Link chassis its fit perfectly into my system without a doubt.

If they dont carry something ill have to look at the sonnet.

Thank you Eric so much

I love these guys, can't wait for MLogic to put it out.
Thank you guys

Still a horrible thing need solutions now and REDrocket im sure can process Dragon footage.
Im so beyond bummed on this.

yup - Dragon processing on a older system is painfully SLOW! Especially when you have a Rocket installed and it's not active for the Dragon footage.

Hi Lu,

I have a RRX, but no enclosure yet. I did rent the card out last week. Plugged into the Renter's PC and perfect transcoding.

Lemme know.

Thank you very much

Fury

Everyone remember that the Rocket-X needs power in a tower or enclosure, I've come across a few peeps not being able to get their cards to work and its just because they haven't given it power. It's not that clearly notated anywhere in the documentation that comes with the rocket-X which is why I'm bringing it up here. I had the same problem initially. :)

Big Lu,

We covered this topic this way back in October when I first got my RR-X card ... you definitely have to have a RR-X card if you want to do fast debayering and transcoding of DRAGON footage quickly and efficiently.

http://www.reduser.net/forum/showth...esolve-10-plus-Red-Rocket-X-real-time-renders

I have a RR-X in a Mac Pro Tower you can rent if you need one in a hurry and can get to West Hollywood to pick it up.

I was actually demoing the RR-X in the new MAGMA ROBEN-3 Thunderbolt 2 expansion chassis at our X Pro event last Saturday ... the RED drivers are not yet optimized but Tbolt2 but Rob is working on it.

If you need the RR-X with Mac Pro tower it's $149 per day or $99 for the just RR-X card alone ($8k deposit required up front).

You also need to think about storage - you need some fast shit ... we have SAS RAIDs that will work with the Mac Pro Tower or Tbolt 2 RAIDs that will work with new Mac Pro cylinders.

Call me if you still need help, dude.

I wonder if the original rocket will be compatible with the Scarlet Dragon? Since it's limited to 5K.

Lu... Call Ron @ Maxx Digital... We are SO getting one of this poppies... ;)

I wrote a few thoughts on this here.

what I am still not getting is how an off the shelf GPU can read any R3D file ever shot, while a legacy RED Rocket card, designed and purpose built for screaming through R3D can not work with a dragon r3d? This seems odd. rED is working on CUDA support but their "old" card doesn't work with an R3d file?

There is a piece to the puzzle I am just not understanding.....

trust me. I get it. And I am not complaining but there is a gap in logic for me here.

Does "obsolescence obsolete" only apply to cameras?
