  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

"CAME" 6-17kg" steaidcam is the good

Not sure if that price range will be for something that can handle a RED. I already have my came steadicam and loving it for $900

If anyone is looking for an affordable bag to carry this setup. I recently purchased this bag http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/626915-REG/CORDURA_SOFT_CASE_w_WHEELS. I wanted something with some good protection, under $100 bucks, since the rig was only $900 in the first place. Anyways, everything fits great in the bag, pockets for accessories etc. The rig is14" wide on the bottom rails, and the bag is 13" inside, but it still fits in there good.

I think i would rather have a gimbal set up... similar to movi... we will be seeing some 500-1000 units soon..

easier to use, stable shots out of the box... more versatile

Some picts would be sweet. :-)

Thanks Brandon. I really wasn't trying to buy a pelican case for this, as you said, it's only $900 lol

Got it today. Seems like a pretty sturdy unit, nothing broken upon arrival. Need to figure out the peripherals, but a quick test with the monitor on the Red body seems to do okay!

Just got mine shipment today. First flight with the scarlet: http://vimeo.com/77554862

I've never used an iso arm before, so I have no idea what knobs do what, I didn't see a manual in the box, can anyone give a paragraph crash course on iso arms? Or even just tips.

I've been reading through all the posts.. I'm tempted to get either Came or Laing. If anyone has experience with both that can vouch for what is better or suitable that would be great.

I have the Laing steadicam, apparently created for the RED community. I can't figure out why it doesn't seem to be able to support the weight of my bare Scarlet setup...

Post a video clip of how you are setup and how it is not cooperating.

Thats great Ryan. I didn't see any rolling, which is the only thing I don't like in "cheaper steadicams". If you improve on that you'll be good to go.

Definitely going to pull the trigger on one of these, I've been eyeing them for some time. Started the original thread. Can't seem to find any of the 5KG+ models on ebay rght now. SOLD OUT?

Does anybody have any source for adjusting the arm of the steadycam.
i figured out balancing weight and drop time vs. with the sources online but i think im doing something wrong with the adjustment knobs on the west and the arm.

Finally had enough time to practice over the last few weeks and get footage to look decently stable. I'm pretty impressed with the results with such little practice I've had.

PS. Shit was heavy, if you're wondering why I am breathing so hard toward the end. LOL.
