My first hour with the unit was good, let's try a film, starting tomorrow :)

All in preparation for tomorrows first shoot day for Queen Of The Bees!! So awesome to be working with my key crew, Ben and Eddie :) Ben with some nice pulls in this shot.

p.s. don't complain about the reflections from my ND filter...we were too lazy and eager to get out there. Shot at 1/200th (I like the look). This "steadicam" is worth every cent.

That was actually pretty cool. Did it have any post stabilisation?
 
How long did shipping take... Also, did you get this from eBay or from the group buy?

Is the RRFF loud? Like the motor(s)? And what'd you/ben do for monitoring (or did he judge based on distance)?

Is this thing big enough to fly a RED One with a Canon 16-35MM lens on the front?

Frankly, it seems too cheap to be possibly any good (and there were a lot of uneven horizontals in the clip on the CAME website, but perhaps someone could do better).

Kirk: no post stabilisation!
Mike: it took a week to ship, wff is quiet. I shot a feature with it recently and it was great.
Stephen: I could carry a red one, but the boom range is already low with my setup. I wouldn't recommend it for red one kits. Most of the demo videos you've seen aren't great because I'm guessing user error. I've been flying for a about 5 years now. Makes a big difference.

Mathew is your rig direct off ebay? Or the custom RED one from the group buy? Just curious. Thanks!
 
How much are the RRWFF's (and are they limited to one motor)? It'd be nice to eventually add a second (but not third, that's just excessive) motor later, but the cost of entry always seems really high. I know, I know, I'm basically asking you to google it for me, but I like hearing from someone who actually went through the process and has already sorted out some of the hidden fees (like batteries, cables, and the like)...

$3K, no extras. No case. Enough to power it and wire it for a tripod. Needed to modify cables for steadicam.

Thanks Brad :) haha....glad you like the reflections.....that's a first! But now that you mention it...an exaggeration of this might look cool for a music video or something like you said....
 
How much boom travel would you have with just a Red One and a Canon 16-35 on top (we use the Birger for focus, so no issues there), and a Red V-mount battery down below. Will it even balance???

We loved our Actioncam RED Edition, but had to sell it to finish our second film. Now, I read about this crazy cheap system, and I just have to wonder if it will work.

Looks good. I bought one in January, practicing a few times per month. Still struggling with the basics, level horizon, framing proper headroom, lockoffs, panning speed. I have used it on several small shoot days, for very simple shots. 9 months in and I still feel like the flaws in my shots are due to lack of skill vs equipment limitations.

Very happy with the build quality, nothing has broken or fallen apart.

David, looking good! Was there anything missing from the ebay model vs the group buy model that made it more of a challenge to shoot on RED?

Or was it pretty much good to go out of the box for you?
 
Which model did you actually purchase and use? I don't see a "6-17kg". I see a Wondlan 6-15kg, and I see a Came 2.5-15Kg. No 6-17.

I hope the quality of their steadicam is a little better than their translation!
