  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I see the Scarlet as the first Digital Model-T of the film industry. There were already expensive high end cars in the world before the Model T. That is not what made the Model T revolutionary. It was supplying to the masses. The Scarlet will give a professional camera to the indie film makers. It will be a lot of "firsts" that the upcoming film makers will have access to. (For the first time.) For the average person starting out, the hobbiest, the student, the small studio, the Scarlet is the big news. These people may never have access to to a $50K camera.

A camera really isn't available to TRUE indies until it's around the $5000 mark. I love Red and their cams... but a $15,000-$30,000 cameras system is indie in about the same way the movie Juno was... only achieved through famous/rich parent and a complete cast composed of entirely b-list celebs. i.e not at all
 
I agree, this thread has no info in the middle of it... Thats very unlike RED to hide info in the middle of a huge thread.
 
I think its time to get freezed like cardman did it when he couldn't wait anymore for his Wii. ;)

Looking at it closer you are right. It does not say the announcement has changed. "The Story Begins" on Nov. 3 flyer is out there. The event taking place is on the 4th and the 5th aka "The Story Unfolds" flyer is out there as well. My bad.
 
I sold my whole equipment and terminated my old business for a restart with RED. Everything is ready for the RED: Steadicam, Crane, Rig...

Perhaps a big risk...but i am sure that the Scarlet will be awesome!!!
 
I think whats burning a hole in your head is your love for tortuing us....

Can't wait! I'm sure what RED has up their sleeve will make Canon wish they hadn't announced anything on November 3rd. Although, for the customers sake I hope its a worthy fight!
 
Red could release some info about camera between $14000-$19000, if there is any? because ,I believe, majority is waiting for below $10000 announcements. I could be wrong...oops

Congrats! That is pretty awesome man. The road only gets more fun.

My Wife is very similar when it comes to this! I've been married 2 weeks. My wife and I own a 7D. She's been saving all my b-day presents and christmas presents to help me get a Scarlet. She's also allowing me to sell the 7D, which she loves, lenses included to get the Scarlet. She also is allowing our house purchase to be delayed for the Scarlet.

You know you've found the best woman in the world for you when they will totally trust you and drop everything to join along on the journey of life with you and live your dreams together! Even when they change for one another.

Congrats Gary! You found an awesome woman for yourself. Enjoy your engagement and wedding and never take any of it for granted. It is so much fun and never ever stops!
