  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Booting freezes camera. Is that a Build problem?

Camera is a rental so i do not know its history.

On Build 16 installed last week not todays build.

Yesterday was fine all day long.
No changes today same camera same battery.

Consistently when we reboot the camera for battery change.
The camera locks up in booting.....

We are forced to restart and restart the camera over and over to get it to initialize.

We are using different batteries so i ruled that out.

Any help anybody?

Thanks

Reinstall the firmware. I've had problems like this come from buggered firmware installs... problems that cured themselves with a reinstall.

It's also a new feature of Build 16.

try booting without any media mounted, usually works for me. Just realized it was you Lu, bring it back and we'll reload the firmware, the new build 16 if you'd like.

I am experiencing the same with the camera I just opened up last week. I updated the firmware to Build 15 V.2.2.5. It died on me in the beginning of the second day of a two day shoot.

I have been running more tests since yesterday and feel that it has trouble starting cold (even in room temperature). I let the dead "booting..." mode run by itself for 30 minutes (and the camera body gets warm) and reboot it, it generally starts up. It's still not acceptable and I won't say the cause and solution is conclusive.

I will try reinstalling the firmware tomorrow to see if it works better but will eventually send the camera back to RED for a more thorough check up.

Try booting with nothing plugged in besides the battery of course. That seems to solve the problem for us. With the LCD plugged in it's really hit and miss.
