  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bomb EVF Shipping

Even though I don't have a horse in this race (yet), I'd love to watch a little progress meter inch it's way towards complete shipment. The people who have received Bombs seem to love them.

I wonder if this is an issue inherent in the Red philosophy - the concept of ruggedness and high quality, mass produced to a price point. To paraphrase, "Good, strong, cheap. Tell me the two you want and I'll tell you the one you won't get".

Maybe they're just too demanding for your average churn-'em-out sweatshop?

You got me there. "Mass produced" is probably a poor wording choice. Let's try this, "A adequate inventory of accessories to go along with the number of cameras sold".

Y'all know that Peter Jackson didn't have one when he was shooting
"Crossing Line."

Sorry just trying to ease my pain

Right there with you... And there's still a ton of people ahead of us, who had the original EVF on back-order for a year or more before that.

you would think that someone! would post a photo of their new bomb evf..

i dont think ANYONE except mark has one

I'm going to the moment I get it in my hands.

I vote this thread to be put to rest. We can have good times later when a newer thread about the Pro EVF pops up from the RED Team.

Yes.. all this is very strange…
There is something really weird going on here that nobody can understand… and even Brent can’t explain all this anymore…

ha ha nothing strange going on... except horrible weather in Germany right now that keeps messing up our shipment of that last piece of the puzzle to get into my hands so I can approve it.

That one part that we are still tweaking to get perfect... it is a piece inside the eyecup, and it is purely cosmetic. We have a ton of these things made, so once its good.. they will pour out. I will know on monday as the shipment finally was able to get through the snow.

I apologize for our weather :)
Although I quite like the weather here: school got cancelled yesterday. :)

snow? there's no snow...I look outside my window, and it's raining... so there shouldn't be anymore delays :D

but 'twas quite true. germany was totally snowed under... and still is in some parts

maybe i can come with. I'll carry the packages myself if I have to :D

Jarred, yup cold here in the Uk & Europe, UK covered in snow very cold transport up the creek for a while, guess its warm in your neck of the woods :)

All right - If not Brant then Jarred has some explanations… THANKS… let’s hope for Monday…

Something else: it was told that RED will ship the EVF also from their UK based office – is this still true? Would be nice because it would save us a lot of hassle with VAT and customs and so on here in Europe. Can you say something to that matter as well Jarred - Thanks.

Eventually, yes :)

Quite frankly, I'm surprised you would post this yesterday. You seem to have a short memory Zakaree. Let me refresh it. Clear back in mid-September on this same thread I posted that I prototype tested a Bomb EVF way back in early March of this year, and I received my own Bomb EVF in early August. I then posted my impressions of the Bomb EVF. You'll find that info in the following numbered posts by me on this thread: 189, 191, 211, and 215. You had some posts on this thread back there in September on some of the same pages where I posted that I had a Bomb EVF.

I'd be way surprised if some of the other early customer number people here besides me and Mark haven't also received their Bomb EVF by now - but may not choose to broadcast that fact. To satisfy your need to somehow have photo proof that someone besides Mark has a Bomb EVF I just took a few minutes this very hour to shoot a quick pic of one of my Red cameras (Red 0008) sitting on my office floor carpet - with my Bomb EVF and the small case it comes in from Red - see attached photo.

Red Team has done their best to roll out the Bomb EVF as fast as possible. There's no question that they would have rolled them out faster if it wasn't for the circumstances Brent and Jarred have mentioned in this thread. Red Team does a fantastic job of delivering under the heavy workload and long hours they work in.

I already posted my impressions of the Bomb EVF on this thread - it seriously rocks - small, light, crisp, clean, and very capable. Its a significant step forward from the original Red EVF - which was an excellent EVF in its own right.

Lastly, there's somehow an impression here that my friend Mark (Offhollywood) gets everything before the rest of us. That's simply not true. Me and several others received our first Red cameras the exact same night and time as Mark received his, and since then many of us here have received a variety of Red equipment "firsts" at the same time as Mark - and done ahead of Mark many of the production "firsts" with Red cameras.
