  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Bomb EVF Shipping

I'm in the same boat -BOMB EVFs for EPIC-M not shipping yet at least not as of our first Epic ordered/paid for in full April 27th but no dice.

Good thing we have our R1 BOMB EVF so we can use that on one of the Epics we are shooting with...the LCD on the other. At least we know Red is definitely democratic!

September is coming. I still have not got my backordered Bomb EVF.
I dont wanna complain. I know it´s important to get Epic X out.
But do you have any idea when you expect to get through all of the existing backorders...
 
Had a little snag getting the hard cases we put them in but we are back on track. A lot of emails went out to people this week saying "Your BOMB EVF is ready to ship".

Note that EPIC-X and BOMB EVF production have nothing to do with each other.

Red Evf Da-Bomb just arrived, SWEET! Ordered January.

Hey does anyone know how to get the color hisogram on the bottom to show like the older EVF???

I went back and forth with the older EVF and set the histogram correctly, but it does not show up on the New EVF?????

Press both user buttons at once and you toggle between top and bottom row view. Kind of a bummer, wonder how it will work with the Epic. I'm going back to using the original EVF with my Red One as it has better contrast, bigger image, better internal blacking and gives me all sensor info without having to toggle and has a zoom in button to boot...

It works the same way with the Epic, once you get use to the Bomb EVF, it's really hard to shoot without it.

Thanks, you are right about the zoom, that was next on my .....Where is it????

I use the zoom on a lot of long lens work and need that badly!!!

I had my old EVF for sale and decided to keep it!

Hey Kennan,

There are a ton of buttons on the epic, particularly with the side handle, so I don't really miss the button on the evf for that purpose. Same thing with the evf menu as you direct access to sound functions etc. unlike the RED One where those guys are buried and the evf menu is so useful.

BTW with Epic you don't have the shift issue you mention with the bomb.

I've found that the original evf is better with RED One, and the bomb is better with Epic so I've kept them both.

Hi,

Chris is a good guy, and I've had the pleasure of working with him quite a bit.

On the bomb evf, at least for now the two user keys are restricted to adjusting brightness.

I have the "A" button on my side handle mapped to the zoom function, but you can set that function up for one of the buttons on the brain, the side handle and of course there is the RedMote as well.

My Epic's back at the mothership at present, and I'm heading over to London to teach Reducation later this week or I'd offer to bring the Epic by and let you try you bomb out on it.

Perhaps when I get back in a couple of weeks if that would be of interest to you.

Bummer about Yellowstone Grizzly! I wonder about the right of way with this one?
If we go back there, we usually go with four people and we stay close. In bear country, we play to live for another day!
We may never know what really happened though!
Seeing a Griizzly in the Wilderness remains my second favorite joy!

What is preferred way to mount Bomb EVF on your RED ONE? I had a Manfrotto mini clamp (19mm) then to Spinner but CA complained that will be not good enough. In case of Epic, I was mounting the Spinner to the side hole of the Slide Handle.
 
Hi Kaku !

Go to Wooden Camera, incredibly light solid and simple evf mount.

Works perfect on R1 and Epic :)

I thought about it when I was buying the A-box but it looked little too awkward looking I thought.
