  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Blackmagic Design is rumored to announce a new L-mount cinema camera on September 14

I believe, if you are going to have to crop that much to fix rolling shutter, could save a lot of time with a 5K crop option, and a 19ms RS could be a realistic possibility.

I think if the exact resolution of the crop from the rolling shutter fix for all the available resolutions this camera can capture where made available, that would help alot along with custom frame guides so that you would know what to potentially compose the frame for if you know it will be a tracking shot.

Also the people violently moving this camera from left to right and then expecting this fix to fix the Rolling shutter issue completely are just assine. I think it is a must that this camera be used for tracking shots on a stabilizing rig like the DJI R3 Pro, then any minor Rolling shutter can be remedied with the resolve gyroscope fix.

And don't forget you have to use a stabilizing setting of " 0.00" to get the maximum Rolling Shutter effect, so no stabilization will be done. You can't use it for Stabilization and maximum Rolling Shutter removal unless you maybe use two different Nodes one for Stabilization and one for Rolling Shutter removal.

Simple is usually best, so 5K crop gives me a creative option, and it works as overscan for S35 capture without the massive 25ms rolling shutter of the full read out. I know that 25ms is usuable for 1/48th shutter speeds, but it is still nice to have a faster option while providing more coverage.

SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports

Blackmagic Raw, 6048 x 4032, Extended Video Profile, 12:1. No grading other than small adjustments to exposure and a little noise reduction.

Please note that I did not use an ND filter for these tests so as to not affect image quailty or colour.

Day two test samples of the BMCC 6K Full frame. Captured along the river Chelmer at Maldon in Essex, UK.

Again when I see images like from the BMCC6K Full Frame from above, I still say better "Tone-Mapping" and Color Correction can do wonders for the images. Graded in ACES

The images from the video above were already great looking and didn't need anything else done to it. However I just wanted to play off the Blue of the coming night feel. Again Graded in Aces
