  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Black Shading Calibration

If performing a Manual Sensor Calibration it's ideal to have the camera up and running for 3-5 minutes in the general shooting temperature/climate that you will be shooting in. (Same for Automatic Calibration).

Manual Calibration only takes about 5-7 minutes now. Full Automatic is like 45 minutes.

I did so. Just in the room, turned on the camera, dressed a lens, closed a lens a cover, included calibration, selected manual calibration and an exposure 1.48 and all. I did correctly? and what you could advise for right calibration? How you use it?

Take off the lens and put the lens cap on the camera mount. (I didn't quite understand if you did or did not do that)

The 2 factors that are used in black shading are TEMPERATURE and SHUTTER.
Let the camera be in the right temperature for the sensor or if you are in a extreme temperature condition, select the temperature that you are going to work with (As Phill stated) and select the shutter you are going to shoot with.
Keep in mind that if you use different FPS you may use different shutters. So you have to make a different black shadings for each shutter speed.

In my own experience, black shading to a random temperature not always works good. The camera will say the the temperature related to the black shading is OK (AKA, Green T) but you can get results similar to a badly black shade camera if the sensor is too cold or too hot.
Always better try to find the sweet spot of the sensor.
