Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Ciao Paolo,

By my side, full package. Anyway, we're still waiting for the full working bundle. As said, Impero or not Impero, that is the question.

As always, best wishes to your wife and son -- he will born first, that's for sure! It takes only 9 months. :)

Emanuel :-)

yeah, my kingdom for an Impero.
Anyway, my son is coming the 26 (+/-) this month. Plenty of time for the Birger to arrive before, no?

Here is an update why Erik ran into a delay. I had a problem with a few Canon lens on the mount and was loosing communication with the mount. I could get it back with a remount of the lens. But that was not dependable then nothing not even a remount would help.

This sounds like what happened to my mount as well. Lenses were hit-and-miss for a while, then they just stopped responding altogether. It's basically been a dumb mount the last couple months, and without aperture control for the Canon lenses I've just been putting a Nikon adapter on it and using my Nikkor glass for most shoots. :glare:

Anyway, even though I had reported this problem a while back, I guess I'm kind of glad to know Erik has seen it firsthand now.

EF232LensLibrary19x

EF232LensLibrary19x

EF232LensLibrary19x is a must have upgrade for your lens mount, regardless of whether it is a new or old mount. This will fix all of the issues with the 85mm lenses (1.8 tripping camera power, 1.2 manual focus), and it does not break any of the other lenses. Some of the other 19_ releases took a couple of steps backwards...

Please use the other thread to discuss any issues specifically related to this software release.

Hi Paolo,

Congrats to you! We are expecting our first baby on the 16th of March (+/-!).

Hopefully the mount arrives not too much later.

Cheers, Vince

I think my updated sig says it all. Thanks Eric big time.

My camera came back from the audio board and i/pins upgrade program and installed the Birger mount once again. Now the aperature and zoom length is shown on the LCD. The distance is however 0m and autofocus/manual setting in the lens has no effect. Erik, is this as it should be? I haven't changed the software of the mount.

Thanks to some advice from Erik managed to update the firmware of the Birger mount and the focus distance appears on the LCD when focus is controlled with the PC.

If you have a PC, here's what you have to do

1) First of all you need a PC with a Bluethooth
2) Next open "My Bluetooth Places"
3) Choose "View devices in range"
4) Click the Birger mount icon with the right mouse button
5) Pair the laptop and the mount by picking "Pair device", the code needed is the number of the mount shown in the icon
6) Right click the icon again and choose "Connect Serial Port"
7) Check what is the number of the port, for example COM6
8) Run BEI Device Interface
9) Click "Find BEI Device"

Now, I got stucken here as the software checked only port COM3.

If you run into a same situation and your bluetooth port is 6, Erik advised to lauch BEI Device Interface with the following command line (click Start->Accessories->Comman Prompt and type) "C:\Program Files\Birger Engineering\BEI Device Interface\BEI Device Interface.exe" -p6 (or change the directory to C:\Program Files\Birger Engineering\BEI Device Interface and type "BEI Device Interface.exe" -p6)

10) Tears of joy

Friday Update

Friday Update

We have about 40 more lens mounts that will get tracking numbers between now and monday night. This batch will close out all that want their mounts in advance of their Imperos, or did not order an Impero in the first place.

We built boards for 120 lens mounts today/yesterday. We are starting final assembly and test on those now, and will continue working through the weekend.

We will build another 120 red camera adapter boards (with the radios) on Monday/Tuesday. The housings are already loaded with LEMO connectors and buttons.

The goal is to have units ready to go out the door when the Imperos get here. Sounds like Curt has the Impero situation under control. I will let him keep you posted on status of those, for now.

Jay has finished shooting the three videos for us, and I have seen some early edits. The first video should be out some time next week.

Erik,

Please tell me I'm on that list. Originally I had wanted to wait for the Knob, but then I updated to send ASAP several months back.

Paid in full and my last correspondences with you guys confirmed it--but...

Please tell me I'm on that list!!!

Erik, where will those of us who already have the older mount fall in the scheme of things regarding getting the updated version?

Cheers!

Paul

Yes you are on that list.

Erik, where will those of us who already have the older mount fall in the scheme of things regarding getting the updated version?

As soon as we get a first production shipment of Imperos, we will send an email telling the existing owners what they need to know about the upgrade program.

When an Impero is available (based on reservation number) for an owner that need an upgrade, he will be sent an email with instructions to send his mount back in for this upgrade. The red camera adapter is completely replaced, and the lens mount is reprogrammed and retested, and anything that needs to be fixed, will be.

Erik, just out of curiosity, what was causing the problem of mounts not recognizing lenses?

isn't that like going to the end of the line ??
i've had my Birger for several months but have never used it because from reading your post last fall it was stated that there is a back focus issue ( either the mount is too long or short -can't remember) ... based on that i see no reason to install it or even apply for the permission to install it ...
when i do install a Birger i want it to be up to spec .. i don't want to have to be trying to set the back focus on a mount that has a little too much or not enough metal on the back end ...
IMO i think it's about time you took care of those customers that have a mount that is not up to spec ...
