Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Just spoke with Erik by phone

Just spoke with Erik by phone

Ok,

FYI, just now spoke with Erik on the phone, he says that an email will go out today with tracking numbers. LOTS of people will be VERY happy.

Shipping mounts tonight and larger number next Wednesday.

Again, he said lots of people will be happy.

I expect to see the mount on Monday as FEDEX doesn't deliver here on Saturday. This is the Florida Keys and things are a bit different here.

there will obviously be a few last minute delays etc... as erik sorts through this. Be patient and try not to call too much. At this stage of the game a few days here and there are nothing to get excited about. It's very important that all the i's are dotted and t's crossed...

Getting a lot practice with being patient.

If Erik would post here on a regular basis I'm certain that the distraction of people calling and emailing would be greatly reduced, not to mention much less customer frustration.

I mean no disrespect at all but, 1 post on Reduser.net versus getting numerous calls/emails from frustrated customers? Seems like a no brainer to me. :nerd:

Whatever the reason, if someone disturbs him then we get our mounts later... You know what its like, your focusing your energy on something then someone breaks it. It's hard to get back on task, specifically when demands are made. Patience is a virtue.

Jason, although I understand your reasoning, there are other issues involved in this. I've called Erik only once in last March to ask, how long it will take before the mount is available, as needed to know whether I should get a Nikon mount in the mean time, and the reply was no, as the Birger mount will be shipped in two weeks.

Then this is an email from Birger August 5th, when we were asked ot pay the mounts based on the following information

Your shipment of the following items has been scheduled for the period of 5 August through 13 August 2008:
RD-EF1-RC1-CC0 $1075 Canon EF Lens Interface (Electrical, RED ONE Camera, Cinema Cable)
SHIPPING $109.55 FedEx International Priority
-----
TOTAL (THIS SHIPMENT) $1184.55
DEPOSIT APPLIED ($215)

This is a message I received Nov 6th:

Your mount will be shipping today and you will receive an e-mail with a tracking number very shortly. Thanks for your patience!

Then got a FedEx tracking number and then also an invoice for import duty and VAT from FedEx, and had to make an effort to get FedEx to cancel the ghoast invoice.

So, Erik has taken our money but not acted as we were let to understand. Consequently, I think people have grounds to ask for reliable information. Taking into account people are saying cancelled orders are not refunded, it seems the situation is becoming alarming. I hope this is not the case, but we'll see.

still no refund... 30 days been and gone.

how dodgy is this company?

can't even hit a refund deadline let alone a production deadline.

People like Lauri and Paolo and others have had great patience, nobody and I mean nobody has more than these guys. I do understand having your train of thought broken while you're working and agree that calls and constant emails take away from the time to get the product together and ship out the mounts. A posting of what's happening on the REDUSER Birger Thread by Erik would take care of interruptions via phone or email.

I would be very happy to NOT call or email. I just want to know what's going on with the shipment of my mount. Not too much to ask I think.

Everything with RED is now approved, so please Erik, ship the mounts...

Best to all,
Frazier Nivens

Wanted my 100th post to be the delivery of my Birger mount.
Oh well, hope to see my mount on Monday as promised but I don't have a FEDEX tracking number as of yet.

Just sent a customer email to everybody with a reservation. If you have a reservation, and did not receive an email, please send an email to info at birger dot com. We already had a bunch that bounced back. We are in the home stretch...

We are dealing with any cancellation requests that may have slipped through the cracks, along with all the shipping notices in the next few days.

I received my email too.

I'm still very confused about the pricing and which of Erik's controllers were replaced by the Impero. I purchased both "blue tooth" and "rail mount knob" controllers from Erik's original order form (the old one from months ago). Did Erik scratch the rail mount knob and replace the blue tooth with the Impero?

The pricing was originally $300 for the rail mount and $600 for the blue tooth. So do we receive an Impero for the price of $600?

Also, do the old packages include one of the cables (or all those necessary)? The order form had a separate "accessory cable - short" but the new packages include one. Do we need these for operation with the Impero? How much are they for members that had the old order forms?

Same problem, here David. I posted in another thread and several people said they got refunds back. Mine is over two months. I'm calling tomorrow. We'll see what happens. I didn't mind so much as I didn't need the credit on my card. Now I do.

Detailed Email Great Communication

Detailed Email Great Communication

Got the email. Glad to hear that the mounts will ship and software has been updated.

Lots of good things happening, thank you for the lengthy communication and explanation of status, upgrades and shipping.

Looking forward to installing my mount this week and moving forward.

Best to all,

If an order was placed before 18 November 2008, for every lens mount and camera adapter reserved and ultimately purchased, that reservation holder is entitled to buy an Impero plus and Accessory Cable, for the original price of a Knob ($300) plus an Accessory Cable ($75). Doesn't matter if the original form specified a knob or remote. We will contact you when the Imperos arrive to verify what is desired. The original order form was a la carte, which proved confusing to many, so the new form has it packaged out in a way that makes sense for 99% of people.

Every Lens Mount and Impero combo requires two accessory cables. The first powers the mount from the camera, and the second cable is used for pairing the Impero with the mount, without needing a computer.

The earliest reservation holders are paying $210 less for their mount and cable, which now includes a shimless collimation system, and $325 less for their Remote. So the advantage to being an early reservation holder is $535, minus the amount spent on Zantac... or something stronger...

Will the Birger/Impero be able to start/stop the camera?

Will the Birger/Impero be able to start/stop the camera?

Erik,

Will the the Start/Stop Record button on the Impero work via the Birger Mount?

that's all... i'll take another zantac now... :)

According to VF website, I think so.

As usual I have not understood this complicated mathematics.
When I ordered in Nov-2007, my estimate cost of total stuff was $1450 including mount, necessary wires and free wireless remote.
Now for the same kti, am I paying extra OR am I getting back something to get the same functional pieces..?

For Nov-07 orders: $1450 + shipping, for everything you need to either work wirelessly, or with the impero hard mounted on the rails. You will need a speed clamp or something to actually rail mount the Impero...
