Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Many many thank to Erik, Jarred and all involved - remarkable perseverance and determination on everyone's part. We've somehow been fortunate enought to the the Birger on 2343 for a few months and it has worked absolutely perfectly - very excited for the coming steps.

Can't wait!! Thanks!!

Can't wait!! Thanks!!

Cool thing is, the contract is the public statement:

Thanks to Jarred, Jim and the lawyers... I am going to have a drink with my wife. We will fill in the details on shipping schedule, and such in an email to customers tomorrow. This is my last post for the evening.

Wow, happy for you and everyone else, hope to see an email today, with FEDEX tracking number. Printing out the agreement and you'll have the paperwork via email today..

Thanks again Erik, Amy, Jarred, RED for making this a reality.

Best,
Frazier Nivens, Ocean Imaging

These things need to happen for a shipment to go out the door:

  1. Update order form to include the forms and warranty statement.
  2. Email all customers with instructions on the process, and the forms.
  3. Customer fills out form, and returns to Birger.
  4. Birger reviews the the form and does one of the following two:
    • Authorizes installer, go to # 5.
    • Denies installer, requests forms be resubmitted with alternate plan, go back to #3.
  5. Bills balance due, if any.
  6. Ships and emails FEDEX tracking number.
Items #1 and #2 will definitely happen today. As I stated yesterday, first customer should make it through this process completely on Monday at some point. I am going to go out of my way to make sure that Lauri gets the support he needs to be through this process on Monday. Given the administrative requirements in this agreement, it will take a couple days to ramp up the volume going out the door.

Anybody get a weird "Choose Your Own Adventure" vibe off of this post? I do. I feel like I am 12 again...

And about the certified installers?

I'm new to this thread. Just a few simple questions. How do I place an order? How much does it cost? I can't get jack from the website. Is there a link I'm missing? When will the ordering process be clear and open to the public?

emanuel is right.. where are the certified installers?.. btw.. jarred.. how is the ims thing going?.. your customers wait

The order form is back up at:

http://www.birger.com/pdf/cinema_order_form.pdf

This document serves as the order form, statement of warranty, warranty request, and request for approval to be certified to install the lens mount on your own camera.

All customers will receive an email later today, basically saying that page two needs to be filled out by existing customers to get the warranty coverage, and apply for authorization to install their own mounts.

Can we have some idea of what Birger and Red are looking for in terms of qualifications?

I know it may be difficult to be exact, but can we have some kind of guide.

I am going to feel this out as we go. Review the assembly instructions, exhibit common sense in filling out the form, and only request permission if you feel comfortable doing the work.

If one feels comfortable doing this work, having done the limited due diligence that we ask, he is probably capable of doing the installation. Remember, the liability lies with the installer/customer, so there is no "getting away with anything". Be open and honest with the process, and I suspect most will not need to be concerned about where the bar is ultimately set.

There is a legal notion "I'll know it when I see it". Unfortunately, this applies here. I can't particularly define what isn't going to get somebody approved, but I am sure, I will know incompetence when I see it.

Not a difficult install. Videos will be available in a couple of weeks if the written instructions don't ofer enough information to make your decision.

My basic take is this: If you don't feel comfortable, find somebody that you work with that does feel comfortable doing this work for you.

Erik, Thanks for all your efforts. This is rewarding after the long wait. Just filled page 2, added the signature and sent the pdf back by email.

Jarred, I'll send you the best Scandinavian chocolate I'm aware of.

The first customer was certified to install his own mount... his declaration started:

Customer holds a PhD in electrical engineering and has more than 20 years experience designing and building electromechanical devices such as accelerator magnets, superconducting magnets, MRI-devices, electrical machines, electromechanical locks, actuators and so on....

Normally I wouldn't authorize a PhD to even be in the same room as a screw driver.:clown2: The bar isn't that high...

Erik,

Will the Nikon mount ever see the light of day? If so, what are the chances it would transfer over to an Epic?

I would still really like to know how much it is going to cost to upgrade the Imperos to work with both the Birger mount and Inclino motors.

Also, if there is any sort of roadmap to having the mounts be compatible with the DSMC lens mount system. If Red is going to make a smart Canon mount for Epic/Scarlet, and the Birger won't work with the new system, then that's a pretty short shelf life for this mount at this point.
