Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Thank You Red.
Thank You Birger.

This sounds like a very fair agreement.

I am sincerely thankful that both companies have worked things out in an agreement that satisfies everyone's concerns.

This is truly commendable.

Thanks again.

Great! Thanks!

All I really would like to hear now from Jarred/RED is an answer to the following question:

– Let's say that a Birger certified installment would somehow cause damage to the camera. Would I then be able to pay RED to repair it and in doing so recover my upgrade path to Epic?

Thanks again!

Calle

I am happy the war is over,
I installed the Birger mount on 24 October with no problem.
I just followed the instructions.
Some pins in the mount have a weak spring so communication with the lens
is lost from time to time,
so I wrote to Erik on 26 October but I am still waiting an answer.
What is slightly scary, because I see instructions nowhere, is how to re-install the PL mount on the RED without pinching the tiny cable.
because to install the audioboard and i/pins on Pl mount, RED wants you to send the camera with the PL mount back on the RED body.
So far no one from RED cares to help on this.

If any one has light on this matter, I would feel lighter !...

There is a groove for the wire to fit in and at end of the groove the channel is dug out wider so the connector for that wire has room to live. If you need further assistance feel free to contact me directly.

Thank you so much for answering,
I was really annoyed, I 'll phone you when I have the camera in hand.

The place for the connector is OK but
what seems uneasy is how to be sure the wire do remain in the groove
and does not escape ?!

Oh goody goody goody

Oh goody goody goody

Free I'm Free at last!!!!! now with only a year to go before the upgrade to Epic/Scarlet let's hope RED decides to make the mount easy to move to those new brains.

This ability to use still lenses, is certainly important to RED owners who do low budget jobs that cannot afford to rent lenses or affort even to buy RED lenses for their job. This is one of the elements that makes the RED Camera so uniquely suitable for both high and low budget jobs.

I would guess that this mount has been responsible for the sale of over 100 RED Camera kits, those people will move up and when they can afford it will surely buy RED Lenses in PL

THanks RED Folk, supporting aftermarket people like Eric is what will ultimately differentiate you from your competitors.

See? I knew that new dude in that oval D.C. place would make it all happen!

Great news, I really think the world has gotten a little brighter the last couple of days.

thanks Jarred and Eric!

Congratulations all! :)

So basically when we actually decide to do the installation, provided we notify Birger and are approved as competent by Birger, prior to removing any RED mount screws, as long as no damage is done installing/uninstalling it, we don't invalidate our RED One warranties or associated RED upgrade deals.

Also my reading is that the agreement is per Camera body serial number actually installed on, and not per Birger mount. If I take delivery of my two ordered Birger mounts, but only use them (one's a backup mount) on ONE of my two RED Ones, I just send an agreement for that RED One serial number?

And we can arrange it just before the installation, which might be now, or later in a year's time? Ie. just ordering and receiving the Birger mount doesn't require the signed off agreement if the Birgers sit on a shelf for a few months because I'm using PL lenses. It's only when I'm actually at the time of going ahead with installation that the agreement needs to be sent in and approved?

Does my understanding sound correct?

Cheers
Eric

Good question!

I guess as long as the damage is repairable to bring the camera back to full working order and acceptable trade-in condition, as determined by RED, it should be OK. But only RED can clarify this.

thanks jarred, thanks erik. good work everyone.

Yes, this seems to be vital info. I hope RED will provide us with a clarification soon.
