  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

Nothing new on the warranty front.. waiting on the agreement from Birger.

to tease you canon guys anxiously awaiting.. Vincent has been out shooting all sorts of Canon glass on the RED ONE in Hawaii that most of you may of heard about already, some great looking stuff:

http://blog.vincentlaforet.com/

Great stuff Jarred, thanks for sharing I hadn't seen that one from Vincent, at times and watching stuff like this I find more and more reason as to why I love Canon lenses.

ciao

Thanks Martin for making me laugh. Made my day.

Hopefully everyone will hear something from Erik soon. It's Monday, a new day and hopefully things will move along, the holidays are over and it's time to get some work done this year with the Birger Mount.

Best to all,

Martin the prophet

Martin the prophet

Thanks for shedding some truthful propaganda on the situation martin. I have been twiddling my thumbs for almost a year on this thing. I hate to say it but it's time for me to nikon and move on. "tear".

Happy shooting

Aaron

I'm expecting Red back any day now after spending the holidays at home, in the place she was born, getting her audio boards upgraded and spending time with her family.

It sure would be nice to take her out on the town, all decked out in Birger and View factor, when she returns!!!

Its not clear to me how we eligible of the free remote offer, are going to be placed in the viewfactor line, and if we have to pay extras or what.
Anyone?

Anyway, in the meantime I am still waiting for my BirgerRefund™.

Are you out? Really? One more reason to be worried, if its true.

As far as I know, and I've followed this thread on a daily basis since the beginning, the view factor remote will be our free remote covered by Erik.

Paolo, just for de-dramatisation: I was never interested in the electronic part of the Birger mount, I only needed a mount that would allow me to use the excellent Contax Zeiss lenses that I own. Andy just happened to be quicker — hopefully I get to install his mount tomorrow, warranty intact.

Being an impatient soul (though my presence on this particular thread might suggest otherwise), I had a couple of "irons in the fire" - first my favored solution, the IMS flexible mount, disintegrated with the warranty situation meltdown. Then Les never came through with his dedicated Contax mount. The Birger mount was caught in delays, warranty issues, further delays and now a new warranty issue.

I will still follow the Birger thread and might still jump back onto the wagon once the warranty and producing issues are resolved and mounts are shipping in number.

I'm sure that Erik is working on solving both issues, and those who will get their mounts will be very happy with them. And one of these days Erik will take that Web 2.0 Communication 101 class :shifty:

If I had already invested in electronic Canon glass, then I would have not cancelled my order at all. I just happen to have Contax (and a few Pentax digital lenses), and thus am totally happy with a "dumb" mount.

On this thread I have started to be careful about reading between the lines... :innocent:

I stopped by the Birger office just before X-mas for an impromptu visit. I had promised Eric to post earlier but with everything I needed to get done before returning here to Budapest it had slipped my mind. I did get to see the VF remote FF and while not in action I was impressed by its quality and versatility. They seem to be a perfect match. It will definitely be included at no additional cost to those who purchased a mount + knob originally from Eric.

Without telling too much there was also a few very pleasant surprises that will delight many waiting for their mount. To remain a bit cryptic :bleh: a full system loop has been made.

The build quality of the Birger system is top notch. While not trying to disparage Andy's product in any way, from my experience seeing it in NYC there is clearly something to be said for the long, long, long development period of the Birger mount. I keep trying to remind myself good things come to those who wait. I think much of the delay has been in the long run in our favor as we will get much more than originally promised. Sound familiar?

regards,

noel

Daily basis? Come on, how dumb must you be to check everyday this thread ... ;-)
Thanks for the info but as
On this thread I have started to be careful about reading between the lines... :innocent:
it would be nice to have an official confirmation from the Birgers that, at this point, should have already placed an order for some Imperos. Mine, for example, what number is?

Daily basis? Come on, how dumb must you be to check everyday this thread ...

How dumb? Hmmm... call me stupid but I think I've just been insulted... :)

You've heard the term "fat, dumb and happy"... That's me except without the happy part. But I am confident that the sentance will be a complete description of my life when I finally get to use my canon lenses properly on my Red.

No, if you'll excuse me, I have to check the View factor thread and then the "Ask David Mullen Anything" thread...

I check daily hoping for information but it doesn't seem to come. You can call and get through to Erik but I hate to keep calling him about my mount.

I guess we'll just have to wait and give it more time. Just would be nice to hear something, if anything at all is shipping and the warranty details.

Best to all,

What is your Birger Confirmation number? PM me..........
.:gun: :gun:

So here goes... I wanted to be part of the famous Birger mount thread. No other reason than the opportunity to sit on the porch when I'm 90, reminiscing the old days, being able to tell my grand children: "I posted on the Birger Thread too. You kids have it easy!!"

Grand!

In the meantime I'll silently wait for my mount having no clue where I am in the line, but it's ok, I'll just read the thread for entertainment in the meantime!

Keep the posts coming!
;O)

There's only 2 posts I want to see on this thread in future:

1. Erik: Mounts are shipping NOW, complete, working and with full warranty.

2. Jarred: Warranty on Red One is good with certified install, and there is a certified installer in each country/landmass.
