  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Birger Lens Mount Reservations

I use RED handle on the top mount and use the top rods to mount my RED Drive. So in my case I like the top mount.

I did find a solution last night for my problem. I mounted the ET mount on top of the the RED top mount instead of the front and moved the RED Handle to a universal mount just behind the top mount. Not ideal really, but it appears to be a good solution.

That said, I'm sure there's room for more alternatives in the EVF mount world. Certainly a different design could probably both accommodate the antenna and the RED top mount.

For anything but really stripped down mode I prefer to have the top handle extension rather than rely on just the top handle alone (too much leverage on that thin metal around the two bolts). This requires both top mounts, so removing the front top mount wouldn't be a good solution for me.

Maybe mounting the ET EVF mount to a universal mount is a solution:

On monday we will post a schedule, still a few more variables that I want to factor in to the estimate. Shop is optimizing the feeds/speeds on the slow part of the process today, this will have a huge impact on the rate. Plater isn't running the tanks on fridays, and may have a holiday shut down.

I think wednesday is when the next mount will ship, and at that point, there are only 10 working days left in our year (including a saturday and a sunday)...

Birger Nikon and Birger FourThirds mount development programs are alive, though somewhat anemic the past few months, and will escalate in priority a good deal in January. FourThirds will come before Nikon, probably looking at February and March/April respectively for release.

Do you have the Monday schedule of when you think the mounts will ship? Will we have the mount this year???

Thanks for the update in advance.

Just wanted to say thank you for all of your hard work first. With your upcoming delivery schedule posting, any chance you might be able to give a estimate as to the Canon mounts being readily available for immediate shipping, of course once all the preorders are filled.

Best

The big storm took out the power at the machine shop from friday through early this morning. I spoke to them at 8AM, and they are now back up and running. So, unfortunately the things that they expected to accomplish, so that I could issue a monday update, will not happen until today. I am out of the office for the day, travelling on business, and will post next on Wednesday.

Erik, would it be fair if, whenever the mounts are ready, you sent them by Fedex express? At least at this part of world, if the mount gets stucken on customs over Christmas, then it's another delay in the sequence of quite many unexpected delays.

Erik:

also check out the post office - they just started a service called global express guaranteed and it is basically done by FEDEX but through the post office at about half the cost.

Will be possible to know if the production plan to pick up with the demand? So there is no more delay or a short delay before the order is actually process?

It's important for our bussiness to know and anticipate problems and so solutions...

Thanks for your understanding

I spent the day in Ottowa today with one of our largest customers for this product, asking some similar questions... and yes, we are ramping up volumes to bring these lead times down. Once we are happy, and our customers are happy, with what we are shipping we should be able to start cranking these out... the goal is to get this down to delivery within three days of receipt of order. Currently we are estimating six to eight weeks; though to be accurate, we are currently running around 13 months for the RED version (orders from last November being filled now).

We have been quietly upgrading the shipping level requested to the fastest reasonably available, and paying the difference. Lauri, for you, that means Fedex Intenrational Priority. And, we just renogotiated our discounts with Fedex, so this is the way that we will fulfill all of our shipments. They noticed that our shipping volumes had significantly increased.

Ok, thanks Eric

I hope it's going to happen and in these 6 or 8 weeks, we could all see more clearly and well.. shoot :)

Erik, Can you please, please, please, have the person in charge of cancellation refund our CC. We canceled a month ago, and our CC has yet to be reimbursed.
Cancellation(order) # 107.301029

Thank you.

P.S: PLEASE!

Erik,
Please consider prioritizing Nikon as your next lens system to finalize. There are a lot of us out here with Nikon glass anxiously waiting.
Thanks,
Vance
