  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Big Sur

Wonderful,simply awesome,i was wondering david is this movie being completely shot on epic's or are you using both red one mx and epic partly......
 
We have Dane's Red One as a back-up but so far it's all Epic as far as the digital cinematography goes. The director and I spent one of our days off shooting a flashback with Jean-Marc on Super-8 b&w Tri-X reversal, and there may be some Canon RAW time-lapse stuff eventually.

OH,ok,thanks for the reply,so i guess 95 percent of this movie is going to be epic.....

Yes I knew it wasn't a studio film, just thought you might have a guess. But I understand -- it depends on so many factors once it's complete so impossible to have an accurate date.

Anyway, really looking forward to seeing it. GREAT cast, btw. Thanks David.

I know its been said before, but David's participation on this forum is GOLD! I have learned so much from him, sometimes just reading his general comments have taught me things I never even imagine to ask before. RED should seriously consider some sort of compensation for his tremendous gift of giving to the RED community as a whole. Maybe some sort of cinematic device with the letter X or M or even S would be an appropriate gift. If anybody deserves it...
 
Thanks... but I don't want any compensation -- how can I be generous if I'm being compensated? Then it's like work. The fact that some people will find what I say useful to them in some manner is enough compensation for me. The greatest gift is to know that my accumulation of knowledge has practical value for others.

By the way, I hired the Astronaut Farmer on DVD the other day because I hadn't seen it. I thought the cinematography was brilliant - the opening shots were especially beautiful. Would have loved to see it in HD!

I agree ... David Mullen alone is enough reason to come here everyday. There's nobody sharing so much, at this level, for free.

I just finished reading the whole thread! What can I say?? Jean-Marc Barr ; "The Big Blue" still one of my top 10 movies of all times. Jean-Marc’s performance was stunning. I can’t wait to see “Big Sur”

Perhaps it's a little early in the game, but if it's not asking too much, could someone (Dane?) briefly describe the camera to screen workflow points - data pit stops - and experiences..... Pros and cons?


I hope it's going marvelously for you cats.
